71% Of Eligible Gen-Zers Don’t Qualify For Military Due To Obesity, Criminal Records And Other Reasons: Who Will Defend The Country in the Future?

Bloomberg is out with a Monday report chronicling the sad state of affairs the US military has found itself in - notably trying to lure eligible recruits from Generation Z with a cartoon series dubbed "The Calling," which will run on YouTube during May and June.

As Bloomberg notes, "The Army—the U.S. military’s largest service—faces a complex set of problems: the eligible recruiting pool into all military services is small; and the newest generation of prospects, Gen Z, has had almost no contact or knowledge of the military, which has largely fought wars abroad since 2001. The Gen Z cohort grew up with technology, the internet, and social media."

The videos feature Emma, the self-proclaimed spoiled kid; David, the Hawaiian kid who at first didn’t let himself dream about becoming a pilot; Rickie, who grew up in a religious Haitian family in Florida; Janeen, a singer performing on cruise ships who joined the Reserves with the help of her Vietnam-veteran father; and Jennifer, born to first-generation Dominican immigrants, who worked long hours to make ends meet. -Bloomberg

It gets worse.

According to the report, almost 71% of those aged 17 to 24 - roughly 24 million out of 34 million people - are ineligible to join the military because of "obesity, lack of high school diploma, or a criminal record," according to Pentagon data.

In order to lure the eligible Gen-Z'ers, the Army will be spending $425 million on marketing, with the goal of recruiting 60,000 to 70,000 active-duty soldiers, along with 40,000-45,000 National Guardsmen, and 13,000 to 17,000 members of the reserve. To do this, prospective recruits will be served content on YouTube via 15-second trailer. If a person watches at least 10 seconds of the ad, they will see a two-to-three minute episode of the recruiting cartoon, followed by an invitation to hop over to the Army's website.

"Gen Z flips through social media like it is an Olympic sport, and in order to get them to stop their thumbs for a few seconds, you’ve got to surprise them," said Maj. Gen. Alex Fink, the Army’s chief of enterprise marketing. "The Calling has got a much more different look and feel than anything else than not only the Army has done—but nobody in the military has done something like this."

America's foreign adversaries must be laughing their asses off.

Oh they will show up if needed— video games in pudgy little hands. After they have their introduction to the lean hungry barbarians from the East, when they will die by the tens of thousands, they will then sue for peace.

This is the way the world will end— not with a bang but a whimper.

The problem is they are getting a really poor education. That even effects their health.

The kids aren’t stupid, the system that is supposed to be teaching them is a failure. Most of the kids are smarter than the teachers. They are just uneducated and indoctrinated.

How many are left if they exclude conservatives as well?

Resume the draft. Let’s get the Romney, Trump, Sununu and Cruz families involved in the defense of the nation. It’s been far too long sitting on the sidelines for all of them. We could have an interesting thread of all of the Limpdyk GOP families from each state who haven’t produced a service member in decades...the Burr family of North Carolina for example. Perhaps the Cornyn family in Texas?

I get that the US is facing true threats. But let’s not skip over the above statement. It’s one thing to join the military to help defend the nation. But who would want to join just to help some dictator’s militia somewhere fight some other militia?

Heck, I don’t even know which side we’re on in Syria. No way would I want a child of mine to be serving in a situation like that.

” trying to lure eligible recruits from Generation Z with a cartoon series”

Sounds about right for millennials.

Appears the only ones allowed to serve are required to be libtards homos and transfreaks.

Who will defend us? Why, the homosexuals, trannies and women who will remain after the purge is complete, will defend us.

Your comment is right on target.

A nation that sends its young people to Islamic sh!t-holes halfway around the world while at the same time allowing a full-scale invasion of third world peasants across its borders really isn’t to be taken seriously anymore.

More than obesity and criminal records, the other things that are contributing to this looming disaster are the complete feminization of boys, the education system, video games and the internet/social media.

Both my nephews were in and have been out for some time. Both NCOs. Both told me of the injuries and whining that became commonplace to the point that most times Command and/or JAG wouldn’t allow any discipline. It was all counseling.

One of them went to ALC(new name for ANOC), where he got a bloc of instruction on how brittle and injury prone incoming trainees have become due to their sedentary lifestyles on the couch playing Call of Duty.

And would t you know it, the ones that do go in and can do the job are now the ones that Austin wants to run out of the military.

We are in for some tough times.

How many are left if they exclude conservatives as well?

When the wise and woke leadership of today's multi-tribal soldiers have winnowed out the hated and reviled
conservative 'extremists,' the world will tremble at an armed forces that exhibits "diversity is our strength."

So far, popcorn is cheap and will be munched as CNN (Baghdad Roberta) will be extolling the victories
of our LBGTQ forces in battle with hardened, vicious and merciless cisgender Chinese men.
