Yesterday my daughter emailed me, again, asking why I didn't do something useful with my time. "Like sitting around the pool, drinking wine isn't a good thing?” I asked.
Talking about my "doing something useful" seems to be her favorite topic of conversation.
She is "only thinking of me," she said, and suggested, I go down to the Senior Center and hang out with the fellas. So, I did and when I got home, decided to play a prank on her.
I sent her an email saying that I had joined the Senior Parachute Club. She replied, "Are you nuts? You're 86-years-old and now you're going to start jumping out of airplanes?" I told her that I even had a Membership Card and e-mailed a copy to her.
Immediately, she telephoned me and yelled, "Good grief, Dad, where are your glasses?! This is a membership to a Prostitute Club, not a Parachute Club."
"Oh man, am I in trouble," I said, "I signed up and prepaid for five jumps a week!"
The line went dead.
Life as a Senior Citizen isn't getting any easier, but sometimes it can be fun!
Thanks for sharing.
Then I told her to check the calendar....Best April Fool's Yet.
That is so funny.
My daughters have become ‘bossy’ as I age - my sons - not so much.
sod
So, did he hump, er, jump?.......................
Best april fools joke ..Had a mutual friend call my friend and say he was from Safeway and her large checked had bounced... She had forgotten to look at the date. of the call.....If she could have killed him over the phone he would be dead and I’d be in prison...
BAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!! XD
Tell Dad to go on Tindr. All the benefits, but it’s free.
Women and girls too, in our society have absolutely NO concept of what is acceptable behavior to adults and to all authority, in general.
They think nothing of shooting off their mouths about everything, whether or not their ‘input’ is needed or invited.
Somehow along the way, good manners in public got lost. Maybe it was all the BS sit coms they watched, where anything goes. I don’t know, but women and especially young girls are totally forward and unrefined.
I noticed it too at work where students routinely call professors by their first names and are altogether too familiar with everyone in the workplace.
OK-I’m just an old square!
They all mean well and won't understand until they're our age. I turned 77 and fortunately in good shape. Take Care. Stay Safe...Sac

I have one daughter, and two sons. The daughter is the one who acts as though my husband and I will die from CoVid should we catch it. Neither of us have comorbidities at all, other than we could stand to lose 10 pounds. We both had just turned 60 when the lockdowns started.
At Christmas we were hoping to have her, her boyfriend, and our younger son visit for 3 days. Our son had CoVid over Thanksgiving. She wanted all of us to quarantine for 2 weeks leading up to Christmas, including our son who had just been quarantined for 14 days all alone. She also wanted everyone to pay for at home CoVid test kits, and to have negative results.
We had to make a tough call. We figured that if she was this worried about CoVid before seeing us, that Christmas would be miserable with an in-person visit. We asked her to stay in NY and visit the boyfriend’s family in NJ. We have no idea if they all followed her instructions of quarantine and CoVid tests before they went. Possibly, because his family are all staunch Democrats. I guess she is, too, now.
I can see that this is the handwriting on the wall. Our kids’ treatment of us during these last few months are my biggest motivation for ramping up my exercise, and trying to shed more weight. I know they will not care of me the way I did my own parents. It’s kinda sad, actually, to really feel this way. In their minds, they are trying to protect us. None have children...yet. I figure that if and when they do start, they will understand much better.
99.9% chance of survival if you get it, probably not much to worry about.
Yep, my kids are so panicked though. Not to mention, brainwashed.
I am noticing the same thing with my daughter. I take it as a sign of her affection, but c’mon! I’m only 62, and I am working every day handling complex legal issues for a Fortune 200 global company! I lift weights 3x a week and I’m in better physical shape than she is!
(crap... where did I leave my glasses again?)
My daughters have also become bossy. They’re well-meaning, but I am 76 years old, have been through a lot in my life, and I don’t need them to tell me what I should eat, what I should watch on TV, etc. I’ve told them both that I love them very much, but no way do I ever want to live with them.
I looked at my county stats...survival rate...99.9815
My worry with mingling right now is the damn "Quarantine rules" as I go into my office daily and don't want to work from home for 10 days as I am really needed in office.
My sons have become protective. We had snow, with a very long driveway, and one of my boys shoveled most of it without me and without asking. I wanted the exercise! He then left a bag of "Ice Melt" on my porch after sprinkling the stuff everywhere I might walk. I appreciate the gesture, but I'm not old enough to be at risk of falling, and I don't like the extra salt in my soil unnecessarily.
that is funny. well played.
I can use that thanks.
