The unhappiest place on earth? Disney attacks California Gov. Newsom's 'arbitrary' COVID guidelines that will keep Disneyland 'shuttered for the foreseeable future' after state announced further delays to reopening large theme parks

Disney has attacked California Governor Newsom for his 'arbitrary' COVID guidelines that will keep Disneyland 'shuttered for the foreseeable future', after the state announced further delays to reopening large theme parks Tuesday.

Disneyland Resort's President Ken Potrock blasted state officials in a statement Tuesday saying the reopening guidelines are 'unworkable' and will force 'thousands more people out of work'.

The outrage came after the state released protocols for reopening California theme parks Tuesday, revealing it will still be several weeks before Disneyland in Anaheim, California, can start welcoming guests back to the so-called 'Happiest Place on Earth'.

Tensions have been building between the amusement park giant and Newsom as the state continued to keep theme parks shuttered.

Disney CEO Bob Iger resigned from Newsom's COVID-19 economic task force earlier this month as the company announced it had to lay off 28,000 employees across its parks, experiences and products division.

This is one of the few businesses in California that I have no sympathy for.

Disney is responsible for Newsom. They created the monster that is going to kill them.

Will the Disney execs actually learn anything from this experience? Magic 8-Ball says, “Don’t count on it.”

Yes Disney’s been contributing to Democrats for years; now they see what they get for it. Meanwhile the GOP in FL allows their theme park to reopen.

I love Disneyland though, and unfortunately spent $1600 on 4, four day passes in Jan that I haven’t yet been able to use.

Disney is not offering refunds, only a credit. By the time Disneyland reopens, my teens will be grown and moved out! It was to have been our last visit as a family.

Note that the directive is 25 capacity only once Orange County is in “yellow” (which will take months). There is no “green.” This means CA has just directed Disneyland to remain at 25 % capacity forever.

Not a bad idea for us guests; a bad idea for Disney profits however.

Democrats are in trouble if they are losing Disney. They already had to cancel Gay Days at Disneyland this month.

Get woke go broke. Sleep with woke and be woke go broke.

This is payback for the destruction and desecration of Star Trek, Star Wars and Marvel.

A crime against humanity!

They need to reopen the Nuremburg trials! ;-)

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Disney has relied on political clout in CA to get what they want for decades. Finally, they’ve hit the wall.

Oh, well.

I have no sympathy for Disney. They have chosen to be part of the problem. Hope they go bankrupt. Get Woke, Go Broke.

We ran into a similar situation with a swimming pool: paid the $400 fee for the summer, and then the governor said only 34 people could be in the pool area at one time, all summer. No credit, either.

We just bought SeaWorld & their water park annual fun passes. $100 bucks each for rest of this year and all of next year. Disney can close their parks for all I care. They won’t be missed.
