An 80-year-old man, a retired steelworker from Pittsburgh, died after he confronted a bar patron who wouldnt wear a mask, according to KDKA CBS 2.
The District Attorney believes Rocco is the first person to die in the U.S. because of a physical altercation over wearing a mask.
The death of Rocco Sapienza is being investigated as a homicide. In a report by WKBW ABC7 in Buffalo, the incident took place at Pamps Red Zone Bar and Grill in West Seneca, New York, on Sept. 26. The Erie County District Attorneys Office in New York says Sapienza got into an argument with 65-year-old Donald Lewinski, who was not wearing a mask.

Sapienza noticed that Lewinski was not wearing a face covering whenever he took buckets of beer to a band that was performing outside. Later when Sapienza confronted Lewinski, the 65-year-old stood up and pushed Sapienza with both hands, causing Sapienza to fall backward, hitting his head on the ground.
Sapienza died Oct. 1 from head trauma after being in a coma following the incident. Cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma to the head.
Sapienzas family in Pittsburgh is remembering him as a Marine who stood up for the little guy.
He wasnt afraid to call somebody out for being stupid, for acting stupid. If you knew my father, thats the kind of guy he was. And my father could hold a conversation with anybody, he was a very friendly man, said Richard Sapienza.
While this may be the first death from such a confrontation, there have been many arguments and violent acts associated with this controversial subject. A man pointed a gun at a woman in a Cambria Township Walmart earlier this year for not wearing her mask.
In late September in Logan, Ohio, a woman was tased by a school resource officer for resisting arrest after refusing to leave a middle school football game when she wasnt wearing her mask.
And in August, a woman took her frustrations out on store goods when she was asked to wear a mask at a Dauphin County convenience store.
Thanks, Wolf and Levine.

Or, maybe someone was unable to wear a mask due to medical issues and you should mind your own business?
Now, who is acting stupid?
OMG I know some Sapienzas from Pittsburgh. This is terrible.
So if he had worn his mask and kept away from the guy not wearing one, and not started a confrontation, he would be OK.
Got it.
Uh, last I checked, it ain’t a law that you must wear a mask. Mandate (pffftttt!) in some places. Sometimes it ain’t worth the hassle.
Maskers tend to be lunatics.
I live on the borderline of West Seneca.
The name “Rocco” should tell you something.
This is that type of area

The asshole who pushed an 80 year old man to the ground and killed him.
Generate enough fear, paranoia and suspicion and the people will turn on themselves.
Sometimes not MYOB can be detrimental to one’s health
One of the best pieces of advice I ever heard:
“Sometimes an asshole meets an even bigger asshole”.
Seems very applicable here. 95% of the time you might just get away with such bullying, asinine behavior, but sometimes you will do it with the wrong person, that will escalate it to more than it ever should have been worth to you.
Really. He ignored social distancing to perform Covid theater.
Two lesson (out of many) from this tragedy:
1. If youre not a policeman, dont act like a policeman.
2. One punch - or shove - can kill a person.
To summarize, a old, retired, commie-Union guy, decided to pick a fight with a younger guy. As a result, he feel and died.
Anytime two adults wind up in a bar fight there is a decent chance one of them will end up dead.
I had a friend whose cousin was up on manslaughter charges because he slugged a guy outside a bar who fell back, hit his head on the curb and died of a hemorrhage. He wasn’t convicted.
Another COVID death.
A tragedy but understandable. I can’t wear a mask due to medical issues that my doctor has concern with and gave a medical note giving me a waiver. I had a similar confrontation on Sunday in a restaurant and I put the moron who accosted me in his place. He came within 3 millimeters of getting obliterated by several shocks from my 5 million vote stun gun. I am going to start open carrying a gun. These people better mind their space and their own business.
My condolences for a brother Marine, but you don’t get in the face of someone over a stinking mask that has no value against viruses. Asking the bar manager to do something would have been more prudent. If masks in the bar were optional, then MYOB. Try not to be stupid in this year of living stupid.
Yeah this will be an interesting thread for sure.
The fact that this Karin was a Marine is irrelevant.
He thought he could throw his opinions around and made a life out of calling people out apparently.
Not defending the jerk who did this to him - but what happens when two jerks go to a bar?
.....
Flame suit on.
