Almost two-thirds of young American adults do not know that 6 million Jews were killed during the Holocaust, and more than one in 10 believe Jews caused the Holocaust, a new survey has found, revealing shocking levels of ignorance about the greatest crime of the 20th century.
According to the study of millennial and Gen Z adults aged between 18 and 39, almost half (48%) could not name a single concentration camp or ghetto established during the second world war.
Almost a quarter of respondents (23%) said they believed the Holocaust was a myth, or had been exaggerated, or they weren’t sure. One in eight (12%) said they had definitely not heard, or didn’t think they had heard, about the Holocaust.

I looked the book in question up on Scholastic’s website.
It’s listed as fiction genre and says novel on the front of the book. Depending on how the book is presented by the teacher, they may assume it’s just fiction and not fiction based on historical events. I suspect the book is used more for morality teaching (”if you were faced with being forced to work for a dictator & making bombs that would kill your family, what would you do?”) than teaching history.
I read The Silver Sword (aka Escape from Warsaw) when I was growing up. It’s also based on historical events but the story itself is fiction, which I knew even then.
yes, and even less of them are aware that Hitler’s World War cost between 75 and 85 million lives entoto (the death camps, the direct military killing, plus starvation, etc.)
also, that 26.6 million of these were from Russia/Soviet Union

If roughly 40% of black Americans are anti-Jewish then this matters to me as a Jew. I barely made it through the gauntlet at work as I had to finish 3+ more years to get my long-waited retirement pension but had two (count ‘em) Angry Black Woman Syndrome bosses at the same time, sharing half of my job each. Those of us, as kids, who saw our first TV way back in the 1950s remember seeing lots of news shows and documentaries about WW II and the Holocaust. Horrifying to a kid, but it was real.
Such shows today would be blocked on many TV stations and web sites as being too “Brutal” to show.
I once posted a photo of a dead Pancho Villa on FB and it was blocked. Also posted photos of a blown up Qasem Soleimani. Instant FB jail!
I can’t speak for all schools but in my kids school it was presented as a novel but in support of a lesson on the actual history of the holocaust. Three years in a row she had a holocaust module, to the point where I wondered ‘it’s one of the most monumental things to happen in the last century but does it need to be covered every year?’ Maybe it does but at least I can say this: the kids in my school district know plenty about the holocaust.

I think when this story appeared 2 months ago they said 5 million. Which is part of the oddness of this “survey”. Nobody can ever manage to fix an actual number to it, so did these kids not know it happened or were they just not using the number the asker wanted? Of course this is an ongoing trend in media, goes back to the 80s, always looking for some nugget “kids don’t know” so we can complain how terrible education is.

Actually, it's a very real threat. Every Marxist and Nihilist group, including BLM, Antifa, and the anarchists are virulently antisemitic, casually comparing Jews, especially Zionist Jews, to Hitler. Jews are regularly persecuted on college campuses, especially University of California and most New York colleges like Columbia.
Jews were historically present during the civil rights marches, but today, the so-called "black civil rights 'leaders'" like Al Sharpton and most others, are supporters of BDS and Jew haters.

The LEFT dominates the education establishment in the United States and it is the schools that are failing the students in this area!
(For those not in the know, “The Guardian” is a British Newspaper that is very LEFT, to the point that it thinks much of the Labour Party is too conservative.
