Bike Store Cancels Contract With Austin Bike Police After Woke Employees Complain
Staffers upset bikes being used for crowd control at BLM protests.
...In a Facebook post, Christopher Carlisle explains how for eight years he maintained a contractual relationship with Mellow Johnnys Bike store in downtown Austin to provide bikes and other equipment for the Down Town Area Command (DTAC) Bike Patrol and the Bicycle Public Order Team.
Now thanks to the last two months of BLM social justice protests in the aftermath of the death of George Floyd, that relationship is apparently over.
Today I received a call the sales manager I have worked with for years at MJS, he informed me that they have three employees who work for them that are complaining about providing bikes to the police department in this time of social unrest in protest and disturbances, writes Carlisle.
They stated to ownership that they did not like the fact that we use bicycles to help us manage crowds and crowd movement...
...Carlisle asserts that the store caved in to the woke employees by canceling the contact with Austin police that had four years left to run, because three employees do not like police officers and did not like us in the store.
The APD had been purchasing around 50 TREK police bikes a year as part of the agreement, meaning the amount of income the store is sacrificing in order to satiate its leftist staffers is reasonably substantial.... ...

That's right, it's the social justice warrior, disgraced Tour de France winner and former 'godfather' of an international crime syndicate, Lance Pharmstrong.
I don’t care that he took EPO and steroids.
All of the top guys were.
Our juice monkey won 7 times.
If they really wanted to stick it to the police, they should have kept selling them bikes but only sell them bikes with Presta Valves.
But seriously, give up a lucrative government contract because of 3 low level employees, are they nutz. Bike shop’s margin’s a thin enough with the competition from Walmart, Target, Dick’s etc. They will feel it burn.
“Staffers upset bikes being used for crowd control at BLM protests.”
The bike waaaambulance is on its way to comfort those poor. distressed employees.
These Bikes are now going to be sold to BLM,
so that protesters can now go to protest sites quicker than the cops, and silently !
Metal bikes don't burn,.. and rubber tires can be replaced.
Also, a bike rider can load his/her own weight in IEDs, and pyrotechnics.
Thar was bright. Employees should have been fired.
Get woked....go broke.
And really, you are too stupid to be in business.
You canceled a major and long term contract over three employee “objections.”
Your are probably going to lose at least 50% of your remaining contracts in the next 12 months.

Austin just keepin' it weird...
LOL. I hate those things. They're a solution to a problem that I'm unaware of.
Sorta like a motorcycle 'sidecar' ?
I'll bet it can only make left-hand turns
Better watch for potholes,.. or OOOPPS !

They don’t say GET WOKE GO BROKE for no reason.
Ping!
Fire the employees!!
:::””””””Thar was bright. Employees should have been fired.”””
I had employees for many years. If any of them interfered like this with a customer they would be gone immediately.
That tells me that the owner agrees with the employees and is on the side of the criminals.
Bike shops probably have some tendency to attract SJW fruit loops for employees, like coffee shops and bookstores. Maybe they can find an accommodating bike shop in the suburbs that actually wants dependable contracts.
50 Treks a year is a non-trivial contract. Somebody is going to appreciate that windfall.
So fire the employees who do not like to do their job. Or tell them that if they don't want to do their job to find another one.
No way should a business cave to the petty, immature demands of childish employees.
I hope the PD sues them into oblivion for breach of contract.
Several other bike shops are lining up to apply for the contract as we type. Good riddance A-hole.
I don't know why, but that's funny as hell.
