Miners working in the Pilbara region spotted the strange objectwhich illuminated the clouds as it flew pastaround 1 a.m. local time, with the glow lasting for so long that many were able to capture the event on their phones.
Experts say that the object was probably not a piece of spacecraft debris falling to Earth, but rather a "fireball," which is a very bright meteor.
"What we tend to seewhen objects like space debris, or if it's a satellite burning upwhat we tend to see is sort of like crackles and sparks. This is due to the fact that there is stuff burning upso you've got solar panels going all over the place, you've got hunks of metal moving around as it's burning up through our atmosphere. [But] this is quite a clean shotit was quite a strong line, we didn't see too much fragmentation. It's absolutely stunning."
Around 100 tonnes of natural space debris enters the Earth's atmosphere every day, according to Nagle.

Circa 1976 I was driving out to a well in North Dakota late at night. A fireball (meteor) entered the atmosphere. I was in the badlands and it was most magnificent. The fireball lighted the hills for a few seconds like it was daylight. I was privileged to see this rare sight.
Nickle core meteorite.
Powdered zinc, ammonium nitrate and ammonium chloride combined will violently burn with a green flame when water is added to it. Put this on a rocket, have a small water container that floods the zinc mixture when a seal is broken at the appropriate time and voila!
When I was a kid at about 5 pm all the neighborhood kids saw a fireball. I ran into the house and told my mom a plane had crashed! We were in central Ohio. Turns out the meteor exploded somewhere in Indiana and had been seen in 5 states!
Seriously strange things happen in Alice springs>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
This one was just a skimmer, or maybe a fly by pass .
“The reason why this is really interesting and the jury is out with our scientists, is that earlier this year we shared a paper of a grazing fireball that actually entered our atmosphere, burned 1,300 kilometers [800 miles] across the Australian sky and kicked back out into interstellar space, and that’s what this looked like as well,” Sayers said.
It didn’t burn up in the atmosphere or hit the ground? It’s still out there somewhere...?
They were not NOT licking toads.
Aw look! It’s Space Barbie come to slay the aliens.

[snip] cyanogen (CN)2 and diatomic carbon (C2) both glow characteristically green [/snip]

Apparently its a skipper. If it had stayed in atmosphere it would have exploded.
Chondrities are also known to contain large amounts of CuZn...Copper gives off a blue green glow when burned...
That’s due to the presence of and reaction with oxygen.
Well, yes; and thank you...When I mentioned “burning” (another simpler term meaning rapid oxidation), I sorta covered that...
I anneal a lot of copper in a gas forge with a reducing atmosphere (gas rich), and still notice a blue green flame...I suppose it might be copper dust residue on cut pieces burning off...
Regardless, a beautiful fireball!
