After years of teasing and months of delays due to coronavirus, Ford is finally poised to reveal its reborn Bronco. In an Instagram post from June 13, Ford confirmed the Broncos return on July 9. That will certainly be a big day for off-road fans, but it will also be a big day for someone else. July 9 happens to be the birthday of one Orenthal James Simpson. Yes, that O.J. Simpson.
For those who still dont understand the correlation here, Simpson is a former NFL star...

Give me the Scout II.
A. OJ drove a slow white Bronco. Elway was a slow white Bronco
Ice cold.
Dayum, Son!
The four-cylinder engine will probably bring that about without the need for a governor.
The Bronco is not a truck.
And what’s wrong with the Bronco not having an optional V8? This vehicle is in a class with the Jeep Wrangler. Which also doesn’t have a V8.
I'd almost agree, but the new API AP oil certification included a new specification specifically designed for turbocharged engines with their unusual temperature characteristics. I believe GM is about to release a new version of its Dexos certification that also covers turbocharged engines.
It’s going to be a 2.7L Ecoboost. With 325 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque, it’s more powerful than any stock v8 engine Ford put in a Bronco. Maybe later they will offer the larger ecoboost. Anyway, it looks like they are going with a throwback body style like the early bronco. Pics look OK, but I see some resemblance to the discontinued retro Toyota FJ Cruiser.
BTW, my truck has a turbocharged 6 cylinder. 370 HP, 800 lb-ft torque. The V8 Hemi was a major DOWNGRADE, and $8,000 cheaper.
And half the durability of a non-turbo.
So, instead of a Pinto’s exploding gas tank, this particular Bronco will decapitate two passengers at once when in a serious crash?
/yes, I’m going to Hell for that. :P
And I'm joining you, because I laughed.
It also coincides with Axe Handle Day?! If they would have picked another day...another reason would pop up...it was the XX anniversery of OJ’s 6 yard run during a game in HS...
Also National Strawberry Shake Day...Can’t do it..nope...
You reference Al Cowlings — his birthday is tomorrow.
This thing would blow up sales records if they offered it with a V8.
A free pair of gloves with every purchase.
You make a good point but in my experience with all vehicles, the transmission always give out way before the engine.
OJ says: “No matter how you slice it the new Ford Bronco cuts the competition down to size”
The 2.7 ecoboost has been around a while now, and I don’t see any evidence to back up that claim. It’s a bronco, not a full size truck, and it’s built on the new Ranger chassis. I believe the Ranger is limited to 4 cylinder. If they come out with a Lightning or Raptor model, with either a v8 or the bigger ecoboost, I’m sure that will sell too, at a high premium. But that little 2.7 is still a lot of engine.
I’ve restored 5 of the older Bronco’s over the last 30 years, you can see that body style in the newer model. Good looking rig!
