Trump hits 49 percent approval rating in Gallup poll (tied personal best)

President Trump’s job approval soared to 49 percent in a new Gallup poll released Thursday, making up a 6-point loss from a similar survey released just two weeks ago.

The new approval number is tied for Trump’s personal best in Gallup’s polling data. A survey conducted by Gallup in mid-March similarly found his approval ticking up to 49 percent before it took a 6-point dive in the first half of April.

The poll released on Thursday marked a rare instance in Gallup’s polling history in which Trump’s overall approval is above water. Only 47 percent of respondents said they disapprove of the job he’s doing in the White House.

The 6-point jump in Trump’s overall approval rating owes primarily to a bump in support among independents, according to Gallup. Forty-seven percent of independents said they approve of the president’s handling of his job compared to only 39 percent in the previous April survey.

Among Republicans, the president remains overwhelmingly popular. Ninety-three percent said they approve of the job he’s doing in the White House. He remains highly unpopular with Democrats, only 8 percent of whom said they approve of his job in office.

The GOP will not pass a state/local government bill without some very tight restrictions in it. The biggest one will have to be employer immunity from civil lawsuits over COVID-19. This will be a big test to determine how much leverage the trial lawyers have over the Democrats.

My personal wish list for Trump (1) investigate Fauci for his Wuhan lab money payment , (2) Update the latest 3 Reopen America steps Pence put forward as, latest data shows infringement of freedom over Covid should cease (3) order CDC to change guidance to States to count any “suspected” Covid death as Covid and, (4) a mea culpa or the buck stops here on the entire Covid fiasco. (5) Drop the story that the shut down saved lives when Sweden and Stanford data shows otherwise. To me, it would Make the President Great Again, and calm some of the hysteria.
