This has got to be the stupidest thing I've heard yet out of our gubermint. First paragraph, last sentence:
"However, some seniors and others who typically do not file returns will need to submit a simple tax return to receive the stimulus payment."
SERIOUSLY??? We're all locking down, seniors are the most vulnerable, and the IRS is going to send them out to file a tax return they otherwise are not required to file??? What nimrod came up with that idea?
So... you’re mad?
There was a case a few years back where these crooks collected peoples’ SS checks for years. They ran a boarding house for elderly folks and when they died they buried them in the back yard...........
There are some seniors who do not receive SS and do not make enough to file a tax return so the IRS is totally correct.
I didn’t know that. Thanks.
I found out they will no longer accept 2018 returns — or previous years — online, so had to print out the form and mail it; no big deal.
Have their SS checks stopped? No.
Why do they need a check?
If they have OTHER income, they’re SUPPOSED To be filing a return.
OTOH, I'm surprised the IRS isn't doing the same thing all those hospitals are doing (no seniors over 65 get "ventillator" privileges if needed) and simply refuse to send all seniors a check.
Of course, fortunately, I'm no longer considered a "senior" citizen... At 86.5 I've been re-classified as "ancient" but "essential"... Snicker...
let the seniors do their taxes and maybe be thankful that my grandchildren will be paying forever so they can sit at home and complain....
enough of senior entitlement....the focus of our country from now on should be HOW DO WE HELP OUR YOUNG FAMILIES AND WORKERS.....
Yes, like me, I am 65 and deferred SS to probably 70.
Isn't that really what your post is about?
Letting us all know how important you are?
Similar to an episode from Shameless.

The oldster “tax return” has four questions, including your direct deposit information.
You fill it on the IRS website and “mail” it electronically.
You can request a “hard copy” of the return be sent to you by mail, and you can request that your check be sent by mail.
When my dad died, a hospital admin type went over cause of death, info for funeral director, death certificate costs, etc. I asked if they had a number to call Social Security to notify them of his death. She replied, "Oh, don't worry about that honey. We already notified them."
The ring must be returned.
Lots of seniors try to hide their wealth to avoid that....................
Get a grip. Download the form. Fill it out. Sign it. Put it in an envelope. Drop it in the mail. Or, better yet, file it electronically. How else do you think they’re going to be able to identify you to send you your check? Again, get a grip.
You are hysterical.
Here is the exact IRS plan so far...
“Economic impact payments: What you need to know”

migrants are getting it. why not the elderly and disabled receive it added to their next direct deposit.
Then he’s a leach.
