I cannot believe our government is considering keeping everything shut down beyond next Monday! That is ridiculous. This is NOT a good decision in my very humble opinion. We've already seen huge damage done for companies by this period we're already in!!
The thing is, if the country completely tanks and nobody has a job to go to, and businesses board up for good, how many people are going to be jumping off buildings? He’s saying that now - and good for him.
Easter Sunday, quite appropriate imagery.
? I know you're joking, but no sarcasm tag.
Right?
Ok, when everyone tells you that you are wrong...you might want to un-dig your heels and take the Loss.
Hey a sane person. Nothing is set in stone and Trump does listen to people.
Bunch of fair weather Trump supporters.
I’m watching fox phoenix and Dr Brix is answering with her opinion.
Why exactly does that suck, my child?
That’s 19 days away. That’s not an eternity under the circumstances. NY just announced they are putting HCQ into the game (about friggin’ time).
It’s going to turn out that HCQ and Z-packs will do the job and they we don’t have to care who catches it.
Why are you crying again?
This COVID-19 is not the only risk to my well being and it is MY duty to take precautions. If I choose to not, I have abrogated my duty. I will have no one to blame but myself.
My tag line has been the same for years but is most appropriate today.
I dont think thats what he said. He plans to start opening up next week and being back to normal by Easter.
That’s the birthday of my daughter
Name a developed country whose economy was destroyed by one cause or another.....and never came back.
Please no Carthage. Stick to the 20th century.
Seen pictures of Germany after WW1? WW2? Japan ?
That destruction occurred for years, not a month
And please do not patronize hi risk people for the sake of a fast return to eating out and other consumerism for most Americans
Well Trump interrupted and contradicted Brix.
There was no way this was ending next monday. Also, it’s a state-by-state thing.
I’d like to see us ease up on national restrictions by April 12th or so, but my best guess is we start easing up May 1st.
I could see us shutting down travel for the next two weeks, at least from the major hotspots by air, in order to keep people from spreading this.
And I would expect international travel bans to continue for every country that isn’t well down the far side of their curve.
Once we have a treatment that reduces hospital stays to under 5 days or so, and enough test kits to test everybody in a cluster, I would expect most states can lift restrictions. I would like to get back to swimming, which is in gyms that are closed.
Swimming was a stupid thing to shut down. We are in a disinfectant pool. We get out and completely shower in a well-cleaned locker room, and then we leave. No real interaction. But gyms can’t just operate their pools. And I haven’t heard yet if we will be required to keep our community pool closed, I’m hoping by the time memorial day rolls around, we’ll have lifted restrictions.
The worst of this is that democrats just learned they can be dictators by simply declaring an emergency. Since the flu is far more deadly I expect every year the governors to declare a state of emergency and just rule as dictators.
This is GOOD news. Sounds like all the hot spots like NY, SF, LA, SETAC, NJ and other sanctuary areas may remain in quarantine.
Either it is difficult for people understand that.
Or people do understand that and it's not a higher priority issue.
There's a third possibility and there seems to be more of this of FR.
FReepers betting on when we will reach milestones for COVID-19. Or when all states will have COVID-19 cases.
It comes across (to me) as a sort of an affirmation of "I won!" or a sick sort of satisfaction.
There's also Burners - who just want to burn the economy down and start over.
Even if bans are lifted I will still stay six feet from most people, not go to sit down restaurants, use hand sanitizer, etc.
Taking personal responsibility can help somewhat.
He said he wants it all open by Easter, which means it will start to open earlier in different places, that commercial infrastructure will be reestablished, etc.
Mine also. In 1992.
Right. The fact you should even question it shows just to what a low point we’ve come.
Sure, over a VERY long period of time it will recover - what do you do with the extra 25k+ people a year that commit suicide? How many people will die early if pensions/SS/Medicare blow up?
