I am calling official B.S. on this hoax of a "pandemic." We have been told by the "scientists" that hospitals would be overrun, the dead would be piling up, etc. Please post "on the ground" reports from your city/state. Are your hospitals overrun? Are healthy people dying? Any signs that a Bubonic Plague is among us?

I became ill on Dec. 11 (my husband’s band concert - he’s the director). I was sick with something for about 6 weeks. It wasn’t too much different than a bad cold, except no congestion. I had a whopper of a cough, though. Lot’s of dry coughing spells so bad I was throwing up at the end of a cycle.

Listening to Trump today at the presser, it sounds like the shut down will be lifted sooner rather than later, in some areas, not all...that’s what it sounds like when he’s mentioning seasonal flu numbers and auto accident fatality numbers not stopping people from driving...just my view.
The flu is endemic. It’s everywhere and you can’t contain it. We have vaccines and some herd immunity. It kills 0.1% of the infected, on average.
CCP-19 is not endemic. No vaccine, no herd immunity. Containment efforts slow it down while we develop countermeasures. Most people have not been exposed, yet, and we need to keep it that way. The best results anywhere in the world for a large scale infection (South Korea) still yield a 1.3% (13 times the flu) fatality rate, and many cases are still unresolved, so that number will rise.
The worst case results for something that might be honest stats (Italy) has a 1 in 11, or 9%, fatality rate, because FluBros and deranged liberals thought they could stare down a virus and crashed their HCS. That’s what all this is to prevent.

The only thing overrun here in PA are the TP, and bottled water aisles of every grocery store in the state.
There are 3500 counties in the United States. The vast majority of cases are in just a few. That being said, all of this is to PREVENT the crash of our HCS.

You raise fair points, but I think you are being sucked into the CW. There are some fairly glaring weaknesses to your arguments:
1) We don’t know if Covid19 is “starting to spread” or IF IT STARTED SPREADING WEEKS AGO. As I noted in another post, my wife and I, and at least a couple dozen people we know personally or who are teachers from local schools here in Maryland, had the exact same SYMPTOMS as the virus 8 WEEKS AGO (dry cough, shortness of breath, mild and recurring fever). My wife and I, and the other who went to see docs, tested negative for the flu. We were told it “might” be bronchitis. Covid19 wasn’t even on the radar. The ONLY reason the numbers of infected cases are going up is b/c we just started mass testing in the last week.
2) Yes, there were “experts” who were saying that our hospitals would be overrun by today. That’s what all the screaming is about re: masks/PPE. But as you can see by multiple posts from around the country, there are no ERs anywhere that are being overrun.
3) Question: Why do we have to wait another week? Viruses/pathogens don’t wait to all come forward at the same time. I don’t gamble, but if I did, I would gladly bet a large sum with you that nothing will significantly change by next week.
4) Deaths: Another unknown variable is: Were the 400 plus deaths in the US that are currently tagged as “Covid19 deaths” actually caused by Covid19? Understand that hundreds of thousands of people get pneumonia every year in the USA, and a decent chunk die of it. Currently, if someone goes to the ER and has Pneumonia and tests POSITIVE for Covid19, they are listed as having died of Covid19. If they test negative, they died of Pneumonia. Doctor friends of mine think the number of deaths is being exaggerated.
I have numerous family members that work within our local Medical systems.
YES, they are being “over-run” ALREADY. Most beds are gone. Roughly 90-95% capacity. Ventilators? Slammed. (Many on vents in their 40s, 50s) and not just “the elderly”. Very few remaining, and when they run out - Katie, bar the door.
And we have a small fraction of our state infected. Many believe we are in the “first inning” of a 9+ inning ballgame.
Credible projections are for roughly 70% of our State population to be infected. If that happens, we’ll be at 40X our bed capacity.
Our healthcare systems will totally collapse, statewide, within weeks unless something radical happens to change the trajectory.
WTF is wrong with you guys that refuse to accept reality?! Maybe it’s just a denial reflex. I seriously cannot figure out why there are so freaking many Freepers that DO. NOT. **GET** IT. This is the deadliest pathogen ANY of us will EVER face in our lifetimes. It’s more contagious than the Spanish Flu. More deadly. And the SF killed 50M+ people, worldwide, before the days of worldwide air travel, mass transit, 6X the people on the planet, etc. I’m not exaggerating one bit by estimating 1-200 million dead, worldwide from this. And that’s probably wildly optimistic.
I am calling bs on your analysis. IF nothing had been done there would have been an overwhelming crush on our medical system that would have overrun it. However President Trump and VP Pence and the whole corona taskforce have been very busy making sure that this doesn't happen.
Death numbers will increase, but as the positive tests continue, the overall death rate will decrease and probably be closer to season flu.

Yes, the death rate will decrease from a number we have been guessing at to a number we know.
But don’t ignore the real statistic that counts: Deaths.
You can have very low death rates and my expectations are .5% to 1.0%. That’s not a huge concern with a million infected people. But at 50 million infected we talking serious numbers. We had more infected people than that with the Swine Flu.
But maybe the real death rate will end up at .1% or less. A typical flu. I hope so but I just don’t see any signs yet that is going to go that low.
the hospitals have closed down all elective surgeries, which is probably the majority....no three day wait for nursing home placement.....so yes most hospitals are quiet....
China and Iran are bogus stats. Cases and fatalities much higher than reported.
Spain is following Italy’s track.

So we can marshal the eyes and ears of tens of thousands of Freepers to obtain intelligence on what’s going on around the world. Trust me, if Freepers were posting stuff like: “My local hospital is being flooded with sick people who can’t breathe,” I might change my mind about this whole thing being an overblown hoax.
