Ours is 100 livestream now, but they are setting out barrels to collect grocery items to distribute to the community.
I guess?
I just am dumbfounded that so many people are so unprepared for a few weeks quarantine that they ball up like ants at the 7am opening of a grocery store that’s likely mostly empty. Most of the chains aren’t getting timely trucks delivering stuff right now.
I anticipated issues with stuff from China and we stocked up on groceries end of Jan/early Feb because I didn’t want to have to comingle with germy people if I didn’t have to.
I never anticipated this particular brand of cray-z.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX/WTTE) A Columbus firefighter has tested positive for the COVID-19 coronavirus according to a release from the City of Columbus.
The firefighter was stationed at Station 24 at Karl and Morse Roads. He became ill last week and is currently being treated by a doctor.
31 firefighters are now being evaluated for the virus.

The no worse that the flu rhetoric by many did not help.
We stocked up early too but people’s capacity for just about anything falls along a bell curve.

STATEMENT FROM THE DETROIT PISTONS

This is true certainly.
IMHO this should be an impetus to remind people to have 2 or 3 weeks worth of what they need/use and not just the 2 or 3 days currently encouraged.
Store what you eat, eat what you store. If you’re fortunate enough to be able to afford to eat out all the time, store what you WOULD eat if you HAD to eat and rotate anything that’s a month or 2 from expiration out to a food bank or church.

Those are fake designs, not really real
Just made a trip to Menard’s in Rolla, MO to get an 8 foot countertop. Rolla, MO is home of Missouri Science & Technical University which of course has some oriental students though I have no idea if any aren’t US citizens. I saw one guy looking at the cleaning products. There were plenty of big jugs of Lysol disinfecting cleaner. No big empty spots on the shelves there. Another guy behind me in line kept a good 6 foot away from me. Other than that, everyone seemed completely oblivious and care free. Stopped by a gas station/convenient store in a small town on the way back. The town my wife works in. There was a mother with her child using the crane machine where you try to grab a toy. People standing very close together in line at the checkout. Normal amount of people out and about for a Sunday morning. Churches were all open but the number of cars in the parking lots seemed a little low. The DJ on the radio station I was listening to did mention coronavirus and gave a list of things people might want to think about buying to stock up for a couple of weeks and said don’t be insane when shopping.
I’m in hill country 100 miles away from St Louis so I can’t pick up the local St Louis evening news on an antenna, at least not until I buy a $200.00 antenna and stick it way up in the air and even then no guarantee. So I have no idea what they’re reporting. Some covid stats websites say zero cases here, John Hopkins says four but doesn’t give a location. Seems I remember hearing about one case in St Louis but I don’t know where.
In general, life goes on here as usual. Haven’t heard of any school closings. I think people see NY, CA and WA and figure, not much to worry about here. I’ll have a better idea when I go out tomorrow, being a weekday. Need to go get chicken feed, dog food and galvanized trash cans to put them in.
My remark was intended to convey, "This coronavirus is serious, BECAUSE you don't get put into the ICU unless you are quite ill."
...and the ICUS are filling up with coronavirus patients.
(According to France and Italy, and IIRC this morning the Netherlands, an increasing percentage of the ICUS are in the 40-60 year old range. Therefore, affecting more of the population than just "great-Uncle Ben" or "old Grand-Bader."
"Anyone know who a biomedical engineer should get in touch with if he wants to help build ventilators?"
American testing for CoVid-19 is so far behind the infections that it will take at least 6+ months to catch up. It is possible that the epidemic will be over before American testing for it catches up.
Thanks. I’ll tell him that.
Same here.
Quite interesting to witness.
No good deed goes unpunished.
Sounds very good....and, peaceful :)
Glad you were able to get your countertop and that everyone is going about their biz, as usual.
