I guess?

I just am dumbfounded that so many people are so unprepared for a few weeks quarantine that they ball up like ants at the 7am opening of a grocery store that’s likely mostly empty. Most of the chains aren’t getting timely trucks delivering stuff right now.

I anticipated issues with stuff from China and we stocked up on groceries end of Jan/early Feb because I didn’t want to have to comingle with germy people if I didn’t have to.

I never anticipated this particular brand of cray-z.

The “no worse that the flu” rhetoric by many did not help.

We stocked up early too but people’s capacity for just about anything falls along a bell curve.

Quite interesting to witness.

I have been picking up stuff at various stores for the last 2 weeks, but I went out earlier to do my last big run.

From now on, I still plan to do 1 trip a week to get fresh items and to replenish what I have eaten during week. I will be supplementing the fresh food with both frozen and canned goods.

This will require an adjustment to the way I eat, because I normally only eat fresh fruits and vegetables. I think a lot of people eat like this and that is why there have been large runs on stores.

FYI— the store I was in had its last shipment on Friday evening. There were a few things that they were out of (TP, rice, cream cheese) and the meat and bread sections were pretty meager, but there was still plenty of nutritious food to be had.

And I live about 2 hours southwest of DC.
