Last year, Eric Trump was asked about Secret Service protection at Trump Organization properties.
If my father travels, they stay at our properties for free, he said. So everywhere that he goes, if he stays at one of his places, the government actually spends, meaning it saves a fortune because if they were to go to a hotel across the street, theyd be charging them $500 a night, whereas, you know we charge them, like $50.
You will be stunned to learn this is not remotely true.
Instead, as the indefatigable David Fahrenthold and three colleagues at The Washington Post chronicle in his latest scoop on the presidents business, the Trump Organization charged the Secret Service (in other words, the taxpayer) between $400 and $650 per night to stay at Mar-a-Lago while guarding the president. At another Trump property, his golf course in Bedminster, New Jersey, the Secret Service was billed $17,000 per month for a small cottage, even when the president wasnt present. These are just snapshots. Despite heroic public-records work by the Post, theres still no complete picture of just what the Trump Organization is charging the Secret Service....
As the Post notes, other presidents who allowed the Secret Service to use their properties, including both George Bushes and Bill Clinton, didnt charge them.

At the end of 4 years, Trump will have foregone close to 2 million dollars in salary. But hey, the ‘Trump’s doing this to get rich’ narrative is to good for the left to pass up, regardless of the facts.
BTTT!
Before Slick Willie Clinton was President and possibly before being Governor, he showed on his tax return that he “donated” clothes to charity, including valuing several pairs of underwear at about $1.50 each.
What a cheesy swamp creature Willie Clinton was!
Peruse later.
For economic illiterates (DemoRats), there is a term called “opportunity cost.”
That’s the lost income someone would have had if they had done something else other than what they actually did.
In this case, if Trump provides free accommodations for Secret Service at his properties, and if he generally has full occupancy, he is LOSING MONEY in order to do so - because he could have rented those rooms out at market rate.
Dems are such shallow thinkers.
Trump deserves to charge for the rooms.
No government agency can accept goods or services for free. It is the law, and it has been for a long time.
Had to cover the expense of that elaborate server farm and replacing all those cell phones her aides destroyed.
A relative of Schumer?
And where were they with Hillary's rentals?
Wrong. Read the constitution. It is required that the President gets a salary. However, it is true that PDJT is donating his "salary" to non profits. AND you can bet, not like other politicians, it is not his own non-profit but a legit 501c3/4.
Could pay for it for 8 years straight for the cost of Nancy’s impeachment pens.
Lies by omission are lies. The pravda press is pushing classist bullstalin propaganda in an election year.
Where is yourube and schitter to ding them for spreading manure?
I remember reading Biden charged rent and then swam nude in front of female Secret Service agents.
Lies of omission are far more nefarious in the media’s hands than lies of commission. No one tries to fact-check the former.
BUT, if they were paying the full amount, it would not be a good idea for Eric Trump to lie about it.
Lies are always a deep hole to fall off into.
I want someone to check into how the Secret Service probably protected Biden’s extended family. Biden has spent his entire time in office making sure it profits him and his family.
It's probably the same here.
Perhaps Eric Trump wasn’t totally in the know about it. Also the journalistic trick being played here is that people will barely read the “Eric” in Eric Trump and immediately jump to Trump as in “Donald”. Yeah the president lied.... when in reality President Trump wasn’t the one shooting his mouth off.
Having to guard Hillary, Obama and slow Joe among others, yeah I can see the need to party hard to blow off some steam.
