Last year, Eric Trump was asked about Secret Service protection at Trump Organization properties.
If my father travels, they stay at our properties for free, he said. So everywhere that he goes, if he stays at one of his places, the government actually spends, meaning it saves a fortune because if they were to go to a hotel across the street, theyd be charging them $500 a night, whereas, you know we charge them, like $50.
You will be stunned to learn this is not remotely true.
Instead, as the indefatigable David Fahrenthold and three colleagues at The Washington Post chronicle in his latest scoop on the presidents business, the Trump Organization charged the Secret Service (in other words, the taxpayer) between $400 and $650 per night to stay at Mar-a-Lago while guarding the president. At another Trump property, his golf course in Bedminster, New Jersey, the Secret Service was billed $17,000 per month for a small cottage, even when the president wasnt present. These are just snapshots. Despite heroic public-records work by the Post, theres still no complete picture of just what the Trump Organization is charging the Secret Service....
As the Post notes, other presidents who allowed the Secret Service to use their properties, including both George Bushes and Bill Clinton, didnt charge them.

Thanks...ain’t it the truth?
Yes.
Basically, you can ignore this article, and if anyone brings it up, call them a naive dolt to their face.
Just get up tomorrow and watch the Sunday morning shows.
ALL the Media networks refused to have ANY Trump people on tomorrow, in order to shape the false "not acquitted" Narrative the Media and the DNC (but I repeat myself...) has decided on.
Yup. Presidential travel, Presidential golf, Presidential security...they all rack up costs, and people ignore it in their guy, and rail about it in the opposition.
They certainly did charge rent Something like 2500 or more
Of course the Clintons were homeless until they bought in NY so Hillary could take a senate seat at the end of his term.
Was Obamas House they owned in Chicago during his eight years guarded by the Secret Service while they hardly ever went there?
Exactly.
Plus, the Trumps are “not in business for their health”, as the old Jewish saying goes.
FAKE. NEWS.
FO, David A. Graham.
The ethical requirements demand normal fees, assclown.
You cannot put zeroes into accounting ledgers I dont believe. All $ have to balance every transaction.
He's currently running the Trump Organization. How could he not know about it?
So you're saying he did not say that the Secret Service pays nothing for rooms at Mar-a-Lago?
He was asked “last year”...so maybe something occurred since “last year” that forced the issue and the secret service had to pay. Like the the G7 or other type summit Trump wanted to host at his own resort for nothing but there was such a hue and cry about “enoluments and Trump getting some such “free publicity,” from the Dems that he ultimately wasn’t allowed to host the summit. This secret service issue may be tied to something like that.
This giving secret service cheap accomodations could be twisted as some sort of “bribe” to provide more “services” beyond the SS’s mandates. I’m sure it is not but, you know the impeach happy Dems!
The Trump hotels MUSt charge for the Secret Service stays.
Why hasn’t anyone asked why.
Imagine having a Secret Servcie detail of between 100 to 200 people, who have the kind of luggage that must be secured and INSURED by the hotel business?
After providing that kind of security for the Secret Service Security, do you think the hotels are making very much IF ANYTHING as profit. Many surrounding floors and rooms must be kept vacant of usual custom.
Try baby sitting arms, ammunition, radio com devices and their doubly redundant back up equipment. Plus the Secret Service travels with weapons that we can’t even talk about here, just a phone call and seconds away from the locus where they might be needed. And it all has to be secured and kept at the ready inside a hotel where the Secret Service is staying, along with a ready roll out capacity.
I am surprised those hotels do not charge the Secret Service more. The fact is that they have to at least break even, like any business would.
"So" is the tell for cognitive dissonance.
Carry on, Doodle.
Wouldn't want you to miss your DailyTeeVee propaganda shows. They'll tell you what to think today.
Cause that’s how much the rooms cost? Seems pretty simple.
