Go ‘head. Rub it in.
Never seen that published in red before. The media really did a job on us, sticking us with that color. Then they ran Nixon out for winning.
Bump
LOL. Thats what I was thinking.
I am from MA. I can safely say that if Josef Stalin was on the Democrat ticket, the result would not be better.
Wow! Pennsylvania had a larger population than Texas in 1972.
#ALLRED2020
The only thing I recall from that election (just a kid) is Archie Bunker and Meathead arguing about McGovern.
Here are the RIGHT colors for 1972 (Blue-GOP/Red-Communist Demonrat), courtesy of Dave Leip.
Clip on youtube from either the 80 or
84 election—NBC News election coverage with Brokaw.Using the old
colors, it was a romp for Reagan:
“It is like a big swimming pool,
an ocean of blue...” And that was
evident early on.
MA loves their socialism. That’s why I moved out.
In 84 Reagan even won MA.
As for back in 72, I was 10 then
here in MA and I remember the
bumper stickers from after then:
Nixon 49 America 1
Massachusetts: The One And Only
Don’t Blame Me, I’m From Massachusetts
The colors were correct up until Election Day 2000 when the media decided to disassociate the color of totalitarian Communism with the Demonrats and attach it to the GOP. No other country on the planet has “red” associated with the Conservative party (or “blue” with the left-wing). It’s absurd, offensive, and historically, morally and ethically wrong. That anyone on our side swallowed this disgusting and wrong mislabeling takes the cake. I will never use this Orwellian media newspeak slanderous color switcheroo cognitive dissonance.
Also, we're onto the leftists trying to remove our President.
Nixon thought about picking then-MA Gov. John Volpe, a left-wing Republican, as his running mate in 1968 (he wanted an ethnic on the ticket). Obviously, had he picked him, MA still would not have voted for him. Curiously, in picking the Greek ethnic Gov. Agnew from Maryland, he didn’t help him there, either, as Humphrey still carried the state that year. It wouldn’t have mattered who Nixon ran with in ‘72, since as soon as the Dems picked McGovern, it was all over.
It’s laughable or pitiable for anyone to be naive enough to think CA or NY or even NJ will go Trump.
Thanks for the info! Volpe became
Nixon’s secy of Transportation so
Lt Gov Frank Sargent became governor.
