Well, Im on the phone with my computer security service, and as I understand it someone compromised my IP address and is using it to download child pornography. I might just be a random target. But this could be an attempt to Qanon me.
Its an ugly world out there.

Always possible, but not verifiable without a forensic analysis of his computer that, we can assume, hasn’t been done. To try to pin it on any particular person or group like the Russians, the Ukranians, the Iranians, or his next door neighbor’s kid, has more to do with his prejudice and paranoia than anything else. (He tells you who he hates!)

I heard a recent Towsend interview while driving in the car a week or so ago.
The guy is the biggest, pretentious, egotistical arsehole I’ve ever heard. And that includes hearing Obama.

If his IP address was used, wouldnt this illegal stuff be on his computer? Maybe wifey caught him at something. The IP address would be for the router. Anybody connected to the router would have the same IP address to the outside world. The local devices have DHCP IP addresses that the router uses to return results to the correct device.

Sounds like he got caught, and is desperately screaming “I was hacked!” Quick, someone call Crowdstrike!

It’s possible to get in behind his router and leverage that IP address.
And it’s easily verifiable, or not. Most metropolitan police have the capability locally. And every state and the Feds do too.
We’ll soon know.

He's full of BS. Yes, an IP address can be spoofed, and a fake IP address can be used to send a request. But the response will go the faked address, not back to the fakir, and if the faked address didn't ask for anything,k the network packets aren't delivered.
Someone can fake your phone number with caller ID. Generally, you will not get a call back

I’ll assume he’s just technically clueless.
IP addresses cannot be “compromised.” That’s technical gibberish.
They can be spoofed, but that’s forensically detectable (routers keep logs.) And that wouldn’t leave any evidence of wrongdoing on Krugman’s computer.
What he probably means is that his computer itself was hacked. But that, too, is forensically detectable. The OS logs will tell the tale.

Ok then as soon as you get off the plane Paul, give your computer to the nearest Law Enforcement office and have them clear you of being the one downloading the porn and staging a fake hate crime.
