A hot patch of water off the eastern coast of New Zealand has created a huge red blob on heat maps as a marine heatwave sweeps the South Pacific Ocean. The blotch stretches tens of thousands of square kilometres and is one of the warmest sea spots on the planet with temperatures of up to 20C. The water is 4C degrees above the average temperature of 10 to 15C, nearing temperatures in the Tropics, which range between 20 and 30C. Professor James Renwick, a weather and climate researcher at Victoria University, said the phenomenon is caused when an area becomes concentrated with sunshine and little wind.

Since we seem to be out of virgins would a few thousand Climate change kooks suffice? Drop them in from 30,000 ft. They would cool quickly at that altitude, hit the water and cool it off.
Remember this story?
The country’s most active cone volcano, located in the Bay of Plenty about 30 miles off the northeast New Zealand coast, erupted...
Lots of volcanic activity around NZ. And the one spot of the South Pole that is losing ice mass is directly over volcanic activity.
It looks like this is one of the higher numbers.
I remember seeing all those MU books back in the late 1960s.
Tow an iceberg from Antarctica to the spot to cool the fever!
The official policy of NZ is that they can control the earth and the weather. Let’s see them do it.
Not bad...;)
Wonder if it will ooze onto New Zealand, with a taste for soft, squishy leftists...
If it is this hot in the South Pacific in December, think of how hot it will be south of the Equator in July!
Because we all know (except for those climate change deniers south of the Equator) that July is hotter than December.
(((is a /s needed? )))
That’s what happens if you rank yourself as “average”.
Whale farts
Nah, Michael Moore just farted in the water again.

Has the Weather Channel given the blob a name yet, like they do to every storm?
“Larry the blob is now situated off the coast of New Zealand. Here’s Jim Cantore for a live update.”
heh. Maybe they would volunteer to save the earth.
“It’s the size of Texas, sir.”
Name the movie ;-)
How deep is the ocean there ? NZ itself is evidence of underwater mountainous geography nearby.
Is it impossible that sun warmed air at 110 degrees could warm water 5 degrees at a depth of 60 feet ? Doubtful, imho. Common sense tells me no way in hell.
Speaking of hell, 1000 degree vents could do the job causing hot water to rise, especially if the vents were not at extreme depth.
Spot on....and notice the red/warm water near Greenland. Curious ?
