I received word from 2ndDivisionVet wife that he passed away.
I am not using his real name here out of respect but, will ping his handle and his wife can if she would like.
I didn't ask what he died from but, knowing him for better than 10 years, I knew of medical conditions and a few terrible Operations he had.
He was a wonderful human being who cared deeply for his fellow Americans and the ideals that make this country so great that people the world over want to come here and be free, live in liberty and be whoever they want
If you have ever spoke with 2ndDivisionVet, you know he was quick witted and wry.
What had always amazed me about him was not just his humor but, his ability to somehow take life in stride despite all he endured and be cheerfull.
He was amazingly resourceful in scouring the web for article we might find interesting.
Yes, 2ndDivisionVet really cared about all of us and our presence in his life gave him purpose
I really wish God had let him stay but, my thoughts are more selfish than the absolute knowledge that he is in a better place.
I hope to see him again one day.
Rest in peace and smile down on us 2ndDivisionVet
Vendome: I apologize for getting here late today. I've been on the road much of the day driving to NJ for the funeral of my very dear step-father, who passed away Thursday at 92. I just now got online and saw the sad news about 2ndDivisionVet. Geez. Thank you for conveying and getting the thread going.
Godspeed, FReeper 2ndDivisionVet. God welcomes you as we say farewell.
Yep. He was a ringer for this website. RIP.
Rest in peace and his contributions will be missed
I unfortunately noticed a considerable drop-off in threads in the past week. Now we know why. :-(
Indeed. Rest in peace, FRiend. :(
Oh wow, He was quite the keyboard warrior here.
2ndDivisionVet was a kind and good man. His work on earth is done. RIP FRiend.
[Saluting through tears]
Prayers and RIP 2DV
2ndDivisionVet’s passing is indeed a loss to our country, Free Republic, and esp. all FReepers, but it is Heaven’s gain, too.
I did not know 2DV at all, other than through his posts, but I feel like I lost a friend, or, at least, a mentor.
Beyond that, I can only say “amen” to all the tributes and prayers above.
Rest in peace and prays for his family
Wow! What a great loss to all of us. My condolences to his loved ones and he will surely be missed.
