AN ASTEROID the size of the World Trade Centre is on a dangerous Earth-bound orbit that could see the rock smash the planet during Christmas festivities.
The asteroid, known as 216258 2006 WH1, is set for its closest approach to Earth on December 20 - just days before Christmas. The 540 metre space rock is the same size as the World Trade Centre and would cause a significant amount of damage and mass extinction.
... The asteroid hasnt yet been measured on the Torio Impact Hazard Scale, but will likely be listed as a serious threat when and if it is added.

On the a$$hole scale of 1 - 10, this article rates a 10. It starts with a deliberately scary headline. It asks “will they hit?” It says “could end world,” and “pose a threat to a town or city.” It shows a huge impact crater.
Nowhere does the a$$hole article say what point of the Earth’s orbit the asteroid will cross. This is calculable and therefore known. The a$$hole article deliberately omits that piece of information so as to scare the reader and get clicks.
This is a$$hole “news.”
I should also say that anyone who wants to go down has to have a valid reason to go down.
There isnt anything to see down there except your down in the bottom of a HUGE hole.
Geologist students go down, etc.
1 in 1,400,000,000 - about the % Indian in Warren’ s DNA.
Five days before Christmas 2019 isn’t 2020. This must be a primary.
Better open the Christmas presents a week early then. . .
What a coincidence. That's what I would've called it.
ROFLOL !!! Great Bumper sticker !!!!
In space, where there is no sound, is a homophonea word that sounds the same as another, whether spelled the same or differentlystill a homophone??? Especially a 3.6 million miles away? ;^)

Just so she knows. I can clear the 18th or 19th.
Well, the WTC as it stood, or as a pile of rubble? Either was, an asteroid that large is going to leave a mark. However, it would lose quite a bit of mass hitting the atmosphere. So it would only suck, a lot.
115grns, 500k tons, 220, 221; whatever it takes.
I think his point was “dead is dead”, there are no degrees of “dead”.
Sitting in a box in my ammo safe, its of absolutely no danger to anyone.
However, take that same 115 gr. piece of lead and change its position, velocity, inertia, and vector so that is now 1 inch from a home invader, heading directly toward his sternum at approximately 1400 feet per second and it could very quickly become quite harmful to that particular person.
So whether it is harmless or not is dependent on many other factors, not related to its basic nature or description. The same holds for a 540 meter asteroid approaching Earths orbit. . . because we have not been told some other relevant positional facts such as exactly where earth will be along that 292 million mile circle, or that the asteroid will miss the Earth by about 1.3% of that circumference.
Actually, the moon is about 240k miles, no? But whatever. I don’t think I will change my Christmas plans.

I thought the iPhone 11 was homophone.
5-days before Christmas? So do I shop, or not?
To be double FR sure head for the shower.
