Our waterfowl season opened yesterday in California. Yes, we're still allowed to chase those fowl. I pulled a 2-dayer and just got home. I'm beat.
As for the hunting, I got a few. Nothing lights out but just getting out with the dog was well worth the effort.
Now, I'm ready for bed...LOL
Nuther old CA hunter here. And yes, it’s a bit tougher on us oldsters.
Note: Never get lost at sea with Diana...unless you can fish.
I turned 82 today. I have been having back and muscular problems for the last few years. Going twice a week for physical therapy and I’m having a steroid injection tomorrow. I’m beat too.
Sounds like you should update your screen name to “porch dog”?
Congratulations on reaching 82 years. Yes, it gets more difficult healthwise, but it makes one more thankful for the good days, both past and present.
I would love to try my hand at a Canada Goose. However I understand that for some reason they are considered ENDANGERED.
Well what’s old?
Now you have me worried.
51? 61? 71?
I’m 51 and going through a “bought a Dodge Challenger” midlife crisis. That’s a serious one!!
“Glad to hear that you can still enjoy hunting in CA. :)”
Only if you use carbon neutral biodegradable “green” ammunition in your pop guns.
Isn’t the dish known as pressed duck cooked so as to render the fat out of the meat? Would like techniques that might work with Canada goose.
“I pulled a 2-dayer and just got home. I’m beat.”
I’m beat just thinking about it,
Another “forced to be porch dog” native Floridian, here in North Florida.
I will be 82 in Dec. if the good Lord willing and the creek don’t rise.
Got a laundry list of complaints beginning with Parkinson’s, neuropathy, arthritis, etc., etc. . . . .
Getting old isn’t easy! But I can’t complain, I have had a good run until about 10 years ago.
you can cook a goose whole in the oven just like a turkey, even use one of those bags if you like.
I still do, quail/pheasant is coming up soon. Then deer season, waterfowl, then calling in some predators, coyotes and bobcats.
“Hunting with the dogs in the woods is always a blast.”
Ah, you are raising wolf food for northern Wisconsin. I’m on the DNR list for notifications of wolf depredations and don’t like it at all what happens to those poor dogs. Revolting.
Happens to us all. Keep on Freepin’!
Not a bad day. I put some lamb shanks in the crockpot and went hiking in the woods for a few hours. When I got back, the meat was falling off the bone and the wine-based broth was rich with garlic, onion, mushrooms, tomatoes, and a plethora of spices.
Nah, I drove drag cars through Pro Stocks till I was 60, that’s not a midlife crisis. Eventually I got tired of working 70 hours a week, then turning wrenches till midnight when I got home, had two cars for several years, it’s a lot of work!
WOW!!!
What the heck did you eat for breakfast!! :)
Right behind you topsail...79 here. Lots of gremlins come out of the woodwork as one gets older. They suck.
I bought a Corvette around the same age. Mid-life crisis is real but it can also be a lot of fun. Expensive too.
