A science-fiction look at the next two decades of food developments, from robot farmers to 3D-printed meals to government monitoring of your daily calorie intake.

Yes, Posting Police, it IS an older article, but still a fun subject to discuss for those of us that grow/raise our own food. ;)

NOTE:

Marius Robles is the CEO and cofounder of Reimagine Food, the world’s first disruption center focusing on anticipating the future of food. He is currently finishing his book Eatnomics: The New Food Economy, which provides a new perspective on where the future of food is heading, along with the opportunities and challenges that will come within.

This is a work of fiction. Characters, businesses, places, events, and incidents are either the products of the author’s imagination or used in a fictitious manner. Any resemblance to reality is purely coincidental.

“Once Chinese businesses entered the food market en masse, they applied their technology and control model throughout the world. The focus on climate change and food safety led the EU to create a kind of food police. This organization uses technology and the ongoing carbon footprint left by each citizen to trace everything we eat and monitor our level of food waste. The sum of all these elements results in our CFS (Citizen Food Score).”

I can see this happening in Real Life. Seriously, I can! :(

I thought by 2022 we’d be eating Soylent Green.

As for driving, say goodbye to the automobile and hello to the taxmobile. Fees to drive at random. Fees per mile. Fees per passenger. Fees per vehicle size. Don’t want to pay the fees? Sorry. Your taxmobile won’t start.

When I was in Guam the natives did not dig a hole under their outhouse, they used chickens. And got free eggs...

Hella lot smarter and cheaper than trying to print an egg using protein ink.

But, they dont have a laywer trying to get the government to require all FDA eggs to be printed, they just have eggs.

Fortunately, there are dozens of delectable ways to prepare kale.

We don’t have to wait until 2038 for some of this. Probably close to 70% of farmers already have a college degree if they are under the age of 50 or employ an accountant that has one. At least that was my experience years ago. They just have a degree in agricultural or animal Science rather than wymyn’s studies or journalism.

The idea that farmers are uneducated hicks is a slanderous stereotype perpetrated by ignorant self-styled intellectual wannabes to make themselves feel better.

Sounds like a nightmare. There are a lot of good things missing from this vision, including freedom and choice.

There are strong indications that we will all, including Lions and Tigers, be vegetarians, with some fish thrown in for variety.

I have been trying to visualize and explain to myself your very first sentence. I still don’t come up with any clear image.

“When I was in Guam, the natives did not dig a hole under the outhouse, they used chickens. And got free eggs...”

(!?!)...What am I missing?
