Lisa Stansfield, one of the best female pop singers ever. Today is the first time I've heard her voice. Amazing voice, God-given talent. I love great vocals, glad I discovered her tonight.
Apparently, you haven’t been all around the world looking for your baby.
If you like her, may I suggest also checking out Basia.
“Time and Tide” was a real good album.
rofl!!!
I remember that song :)
Leave the guy alone. He doesn’t want you around.
No less getting chased all around the world.
Yeah.. same here.. my musical tastes change over time as well. Just in recent months, Ive become a fan of music by the Allman Brothers Band and the groups that have spun off from it.
Yes, she was great. Try her duet with Barry White. Priceless.
I remember the songs that the singer was known for.
I recall because at the same time she was looking all around the world for her baby I was looking for my hopes and dreams from youth.
Neither one of us found what we were looking for :)
Thanks, will check it out.
She should have been a bigger star with her talent. All in all she’s had a decent career.
Never heard of her, so I just checked her out on youtube:

I didn’t care for her. Too much echo chamber and covering up her not-so-strong voice with a lot of background harmonies. Not my kind of music.
Where are the present day Linda Ronstadt, Aretha Franklins, Ricki Lee Joneses, Patsy Clarks, Winona Judds? Women who could really belt them out.
Most songs I hear on the radio nowadays from women all have nasally, weak and unappealing voices singing crap.
Maybe it’s just me....I’m an old fart.
I actually grew up during Allman Bros. Band, Beatles, etc. But turned off all music during 80’s, 90’s while I wrote music.
I’ve always been a big admirer of great vocalists. Somehow tonight wandering around on the internet discovered Lisa. She is one great singer.
Great album, great voice. Crusin’ for brusin’.
You have Adele from England, and Maria Carey from Da Bronx.
Both tend to get caught up in elaborate vocal stylings, to show off their skills, but not always.
Bmrk for later
English singer. Has released 8 albums of music so far and had a small acting career on the side. Never a big star but has a following which now includes you.
You need to listen to her live performances.
Try this..of her singing a Billie Holiday classic:

For some reason, I associate “Swing Out Sister” with that era, as well, liked “Breakout”.
“elaborate vocal stylings”
I could do without those. To me those elaborations are just efforts to hide that they can’t hold their notes. Mariah Carey, no thanks. That New Year’s fiasco where she looked all plumped up with botox and silicon, couldn’t coordinate with her pre-recorded high notes (which just shows what a fake she is) pretty much destroyed her career.
If Adele has elaborate vocal stylings like that, I’m not interested.
Well you missed a lot. You might like these, and I do not mean to be condescending. Lisa DalBello: pretty girls. Patti Drew: Working on a Groovy Thing, Tell him. Katherine MaKinnon: That’s when you know. Evie Sands: I love making love to you, Hollywood. Minny Ripperton. Taylor Dane: Don’t Rush me. Whitney Houston: Moment of Truth. Enya: Anywhere Is. Patty Smyth: Warrior, Beat of a Heart. And that is just a start..........
