Never heard of her, so I just checked her out on youtube:

I didn’t care for her. Too much echo chamber and covering up her not-so-strong voice with a lot of background harmonies. Not my kind of music.
Where are the present day Linda Ronstadt, Aretha Franklins, Ricki Lee Joneses, Patsy Clarks, Winona Judds? Women who could really belt them out.
Most songs I hear on the radio nowadays from women all have nasally, weak and unappealing voices singing crap.
Maybe it’s just me....I’m an old fart.
You have Adele from England, and Maria Carey from Da Bronx.
Both tend to get caught up in elaborate vocal stylings, to show off their skills, but not always.
You need to listen to her live performances.
Try this..of her singing a Billie Holiday classic:

I would love to hear a latter-day Vera Lynn, Ruth Etting, Vaughn De Leath, Jane Green or Kate Smith.
Wiki: Rhiannon Giddens (born February 21, 1977) is an American musician. She is a founding member of the country, blues and old-time music band Carolina Chocolate Drops, where she is the lead singer, violinist, and banjo player.Shake Sugaree. The song may not be your cup of tea, but she has a magical voice and her classical training shows! The studio recorded version is better, but this live version is great. Ms. Giddens has the voice of an angel!Giddens is a native of Greensboro, North Carolina, an alumna of the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics, and a 2000 graduate of Oberlin Conservatory at Oberlin College, where she studied opera.
Not for the pipes, although they are okay (not to everybody's ears) but for the musical creativity and execution.
Other female singers with pipes.
Pat Benetar.
Grace Slick (Jefferson Airplane)
Ann Wilson (Heart)
Stevie Nicks - lover her or hate her she had pipes
Although I must admit that Christina Aguilara is pretty amazing.
I’m in complete agreement with you.
Try these: Edie Gorme, the Queen of the Torch Song, with an unmatched set of pipes! Blow a house down just clearing her throat!

Enjoy. From one old fart to another.
Karen Carpenter was that good, so was Olivia Newton-John. But Cleo Laine (click here) was one of the best, now 91 years old. I hope she can still entertain. I had an LP record of her songs, back in the early '70s, recorded when she was still younger. Her detailed Wiki bio is quite interesting.
But still, like the rest of us, just a sojourner. May Lisa have a happy life and a quality career in entertaining others.
Agreed. WAY overproduced, mediocre voice.
Maybe its just me....Im an old fart.
One with great taste!
As a little gal with a big voice, and often paid very nicely for using it, I second your post and if you should pass away in my neck of the woods I'll belt one out at the services, no charge. :-*
All of the real talent has moved to YouTube. It’s amazing what you can find there.

You may laugh, sneer or even be repulsed, but Lady Gaga is classically trained, actually quite literate with her lyrics (racy as they can be at times) and can really belt one out. Fairly patriotic too, despite the wild rumors that circulated years ago.
