Surveillance photos have been released of a man suspected of stealing the San Luis Obispo police chief’s gun after she forgot it in a restaurant bathroom Wednesday.

“Even though my gun was in a holster, it didn’t stay clipped to my pants, so I removed it, and I placed it next to me,” Cantrell said.
She exited the bathroom without the gun, and by the time she realized it was missing a few minutes later, she returned to find it gone.
Police checked security video and determined that three customers entered the restroom between the time Cantrell had used it and then noticed her gun missing.

So who was it that was in the wrong restroom? Was she in the men’s, or he in the women’s?

You mean women should not be policemen.
This is California. Restaurants have to have “gender neutral” restrooms available, so instead of building a third can they just put locks on the doors of all the restrooms and they are all “neutral.” There are no men’s or women’s rooms in new public places, and this Pollo Loco just opened about a year ago or less.
Well, at least resign from her position pending investigation. Not fired. If a police officer does this they are suspended pending investigation, usually without pay. She should be held to the same accountability

Police Departments ought to have a bathroom protocol that’s ingrained into all staff. Not exactly a new issue.

I have a cali CCW and decades of carrying a firearm in the line of duty. If I did this my permit would be gone in the next instant.

She should be fired for dining at El Pollo Loco. Obviously has poor taste in food.
I see on TV and news, video’s that lot of police officers are over-weight. I remember when they were required to be physically fit, not over-weight, etc. They can’t even run and chase suspects for more then 5-10 seconds.

Let’s see ..I know I’m a teen, but really, you forgot your gun in the bathroom and 3 people came in after you used the bathroom? Unless this chief has the IQ of a cabbage, I think she knew and wanted it out there to ban guns If we didn’t have the second amendment, and got rid of firearms, I wouldn’t need a gun.
Seems to happen often in the so-called State of California.
I bet she could dial Megan Rappin-Ho. She might know where it is.
