Surveillance photos have been released of a man suspected of stealing the San Luis Obispo police chief’s gun after she forgot it in a restaurant bathroom Wednesday.

“Even though my gun was in a holster, it didn’t stay clipped to my pants, so I removed it, and I placed it next to me,” Cantrell said.
She exited the bathroom without the gun, and by the time she realized it was missing a few minutes later, she returned to find it gone.
Police checked security video and determined that three customers entered the restroom between the time Cantrell had used it and then noticed her gun missing.

The Prescott Valley (AZ) Police Chief lost his gun in November 2017 and it was never found.
He retired last month to apply for police chief of Ann Arbor MI. Don’t think he’ll get it.

Looking at the photos makes me suspect she may have taken it off and dropped it while faking it at a man’s urinal.

I’ve noticed that many police chiefs (not all, but many) like to wear the stars of a full general/admiral. Chief of police of San Luis Obispo—I wonder how many are under her command.

If her gun comes unclipped from her pants that easily how hard would it be for an attacker to take control of this Half Cops gun? She doesn’t look quite as petite as most female officers but it sure seems like it would be easy to strip her of her gun. As far as the man suspected of stealing her gun. I think he technically found it. Granted he didn’t turn it in yet?

I am pretty sure she violated the California safe firearm storage laws by leaving it laying about where a child could pick it up.
I think she should be arrested and charged with the crime she committed.
