People looking to enjoy the taste of KFC's fried chicken skin can get the tasty skin without having to deal with all of that leftover chicken meat.
Various international locations are starting to sell bags of fried chicken skins. People have often joked about only wanting to eat the skin off of the famous fried chicken, and now KFC is making that dream a reality (for certain parts of the world).
The unusual menu item was first announced on the KFC Indonesia Twitter page. According to a translation of the post, the item was set to appear at six KFC locations in Indonesia; Salemba, Cideng, Kemang, Kalimalang and Kelapa Gading.

We were such poor kids, instead of
Naked and Afraid, we called it ‘doctor.’
“Yeah. I ask myself the same thing. I just reached three-score and ten, so everything else is gravy.”
Reached threescore & ten six months ago. CPA says I must start withdrawing from IRA now. Heart doc says quit drinking cold turkey or die in three years.
It’s midnight. Finishing my second whiskey & ice. At 0600 get up & go visit my Mom in nursing home who is 98 and always glad to see me. Just sold Mom’s house where she lived until 95 along with a houseful of goods & memories.
I have survived invasive heart & lung surgery and got a boatload of stuff to hand on to my wife. All I have to do now is to give thanks to God for every day that I’m alive to see the sunrise.
So it’s time to worry about the calories in fried chicken skins? Heck, since age five I know that’s where all the flavor is. Let the health mavens lecture me; I’m always in need of a good laugh.
;^)
If they don’t flour it, it’s perfect for a low carb diet!
So did mine.
Once upon a time, you could order naked chicken at Church’s.
ROFL!!
It could save one’s life!
I recommend that they make a "keto" friendly "crisp" if they really want immediate success.
Folks on keto are dying for some new and tasty foods.
Well, you have good genes so you’ve got that going for you. My mom is 95 and still living on the family homestead, so you never know.
And all the seasonings are on the skin - make it a bit more crispy and MMMMMmmm!
WHAT?? No FEET??
I would trade an equal weight of bacon for this menu item!
Nope...chicking CRACKLINGS (fried skin). Ate plenty of pork cracklins' growing up....fresh out of the lard rendering kettle. Chitlin's involve intestines.
:: Why didn’t anyone think of this before? ::
The employees did, a long time ago.
They kept it a secret.
I used to “special order” it from my brother when he worked there in the 70’s.
Red beans, corn bread and chow chow. My maternal grandfather used to eat bowls of cornbread mush every day. We were poor money wise, but we made do like most in that spot.

I make this once or twice a year. I keep the extra skin & fat in the freezer until I have A LOT. The finished products also freeze well.
I save rendered chicken fat, as well. Makes the best gravy (and everything else)!
Gribenes are very good on mashed potatoes. I serve on the side, so they don’t soften. They are essential for chopped chicken liver.
I’m 76.
Everyone dies.
then he picks up his fork and spears a skin.

You just pick them up with your hands and pop them in your mouth.
After that first strip of crisp skin from a roast chicken or turkey, I set the extra skin aside separately with the leftovers. While making whatever with the leftover meat, the extra skin is re-crisping on piece of foil in the oven.
That is the cook’s reward, IMO.
(I do share....sometimes)
Whenever we are lucky enough to be invited to a hog roast, we both load a plate with the *bark*. Heavenly.
Yuo. I was wrong, though I have eaten hog chitlins. It is an acquired taste.
I would say the KFC sales of chicken skin is a brilliant marketing move by some chicken producer.
In America, there are a tremendous lot of skinless chicken breasts. Some brilliant marketer convinced KFC to learn to create a salable item from all that wasted skin. The result is a trial in Indonesia where KFC has good sales and the introduction of a trial product can be market tested
I would expect the next test would be Walmart delis as party finger food
“Why not just go to the Heart wing of a hospital and wait on an operating table :)”
My father used to say that about Roll & Roaster in Sheepshead Bay.
