KFC starts selling fried chicken skin

People looking to enjoy the taste of KFC's fried chicken skin can get the tasty skin without having to deal with all of that leftover chicken meat.

Various international locations are starting to sell bags of fried chicken skins. People have often joked about only wanting to eat the skin off of the famous fried chicken, and now KFC is making that dream a reality (for certain parts of the world).

The unusual menu item was first announced on the KFC Indonesia Twitter page. According to a translation of the post, the item was set to appear at six KFC locations in Indonesia; Salemba, Cideng, Kemang, Kalimalang and Kelapa Gading.

I think I’ll order 4 pounds of chewy chicken skin with beaks since the meatless T-bone I had for lunch wasn’t too filling.

Certainly not every day, but when I am in the mood for that kind of food, yes.

Imagine a TV commercial with an Atty. General William Barr lookalike. Seated at a table in KFC observing a dish of deep fried chicken skins. He says’ “This may require an investigation!”, then he picks up his fork and spears a skin.

Chicken skin tastes great on broiled, baked, BBQ, or rotisserie chicken, IF done enough so that it's darkened and crispy.

In order to do that, the fat beneath the skin must be rendered out. Competition BBQ pit masters will cook chicken thighs, but before they do, they remove the skins, scrape off the fat beneath it they put the skins back on the thighs. Supposedly, it gives you great “bite through” skin...mean you can bite through it without tearing off the whole skin.

About 20 years ago, I was driving past our neighborhood KFC on my way to my HS teaching post. There was a big sign out front that mystified me.
Since my first class included the daughter of the franchise owner, I had to ask her about it. “What’s with this sign out front at your store that says, ‘FREE SKIN’? Who wants skin?”
She blushed and said, “No. It says ‘SKIN FREE’”.
True story.
And now this story posted here...

Hahahaha...well, I have always been a fan of poultry skin...there is nothing more bland and unappetizing than a chicken breast with no skin.

Whenever we had a turkey or chicken as kids, my mom had to watch guard, because as soon as it came out, we would start picking at it...you would have thought for our family, there was a special breed of poultry that had no skin!
