Well, at least in Playboy the people are clean.Sooooo, there’s that.
Thanks for the head’s up. I was thinking about watching the series. Not looking for midget orgies.
I’d even watch it without the dragons! They annoy me!
Also I could even tolerate something else for the bad guy army other then Ice Zombies - say Democrat voters, people who whine about GOT being porn, etc.
If you think its porn, don’t watch!
I think George R. R. Martin is just a sexual deviant and it shows through in anything he does. The incestuous relationship between Cersei and Jaime almost comes across as normal in the storyline.
Yes, she certainly makes a fair point. She’s right, in fact.
But I’ll add the porn/plot ratio did change over the years when the showrunners realized people actually were watching for the plot.
Unlike the Roman series they ran on HBO or even the Henry VIII one, this one is not ONLY porn, it just contains porn.
Why follow Game of Thrones?
Look up real history.
Read about real people like the Borgias, you got the freaking Pope - the Pope! - poisoning his enemies.
Never seen one second of it.
If it is porn, it is the boring porn I have ever seen.
I tried a few times to watch Game of Thrones.
It was a few minutes of people talking about things I didn’t understand. Then some people are killed for some unexplained reason. Then people standing around doing nothing.
I couldn’t get into it.
Midget porn?
What’s that about? Gee I better Google it. See what’s up.
This article is written by someone who hasn't watched the show or read the books. Full stop.
I’ve never seen the show, but this may explain the popularity.
I’ve noticed in many modern movies I watch on Netflix and Amazon Prime that there are now scenes with “respected” actors and actresses that would fall into the category “Soft Porn” in the 70’s. Think “Emmanuelle, the Joys of a Woman”.
That is, full on nude sex scenes with the only thing missing was visuals of the actual genitals or penetration.
Our culture is really going downhill. My biggest concern is protecting our children from exposure to all of this stuff.
I have always thought the nudity in GOT was gratuitous. So is some of the crude language and over-the-top violence. However, I still find the show imaginative and well done. There are scenes (mainly in earlier seasons) that look like Maxfield Parrish paintings. If the show were to be censored for showing on free TV, it would probably be an improvement.
read Playboy for the articles, I haven’t heard that one in a long time.
As I recall from the distant past, Playboy and Hefner had been sued over alleged pornographic images, and courts ruled that Playboy and similar magazines, were not officially pornographic, if they had other content of redeeming social value.
Hef allegedly thought his magazine was not in any way pornographic, because they originally didn’t show “full frontal” if you get my meaning.
Nowadays that full frontal ban is history, and pornography has gone far beyond just nude pictorials.
Hef supposedly said Playboy was a lifestyle magazine. He resisted any charges that he was a smut peddler.
Since the behavior of fourteenth century French royalty was crude, violent, and promiscuous you can't avoid having even the most dry historical texts coming off as pornographic.
I started to read the first of the actual historical novels (Maurice Druon’s The Iron King) but abandoned it because of the sexual violence.
I don't have a television, so I have never watched any of the show.
What about the violence? I quit three minutes in because of that. Never watched another show.
Find my clutching pearls and fainting couch. Sounds like someone’s wife is a bit jelly.
There hasnt been that much sex shown and the sex and violence shown is part of the point....this is based on medieval Europe before the Enlightenment and before any notions of the value of each individual human life. Life was cheap and often nasty and far from any notions of fairness or chivalry, horrible things often happened to innocent people.
Its the very opposite of Ivanhoe or any other such romantic fantasies about what the world used to be like. Evil triumphs plenty of times. Its about how well you play the game to obtain and hold onto power - not how good you are.
First two seasons were ok, the third season got even more bogged down in multitudes of characters and I lost interest. About the same as the books come to think of it.
I have girlfriends that are 100% ENTHRALLED with the ‘Outlander’ series, which is soft core porn, through and through.
They have viewing parties and cook all sorts of Scottish meals. For some reason they won’t let me contribute Haggis. *SNORT*
The books were OK; I can’t stomach the series.
My 16 year old niece could come up with something far more imaginitive than GoT. I struggled through 4 seasons and finally said enough is enough.
