A FORMER NASA scientist has claimed time travel is possible because the speed of light is changing.
==============================================================
Louise Riofrio is involved in a project that will put an atomic clock into the International Space Station to verify her theory.
She reached the conclusion that the speed of light is changing while working at NASA.
The scientist analysed lasers that bounced off reflectors left by astronauts on the moon, which appeared to show the moon was moving too fast.
But when she compared it to various experiments on Earth using fossils, observations of ancient eclipses and computer simulations she found it was actually moving more slowly.
It led her to believe that the speed of laser light slowing had caused the moon to appear to be moving faster.
This, she claimed, could be of huge significance when it comes to time travel.
One thing this says is that we can certainly move forward in time and that we can also change the rate we move forward in time, Louise told Blake Cousins of YouTube channel thirdphaseofmoon.
As far as moving backwards in time, if thats ever possible no equations like this will ever find out that.
The idea that time travellers could visit us today is beyond our understanding so we really cant say if there are time travellers among us.
The scientist also said her theory could allow warp speed similar to that seen in cult series Star Trek to occur in space.
Warping space to reach other solar systems faster than light is definitely something we might do some day, she added.
It is not the first time there have been claims of time travel existing.
Wacky conspiracy channel Apex TV has posted several videos in the past of so-called time-travellers revealing their proof.
One particularly outlandish clip showed a man revealing a photo he supposedly took of a dinosaur 66 million years ago.
I've often wondered that too. If you could travel to the very edge of the universe and look out your ship's window, would there be nothing but pitch black but then look behind you and see all the stars left behind? That would be pretty disconcerting.
I've always equated the planets and stars of the universe as nothing but atoms within a big box.
A thread yesterday had an article which said Hubble data indicated that (1) the expansion of the Universe was accelerating, and (2) that space in our local region was expanding faster than it was at the edges of the Universe. What puzzled me was that no information, or light, could reach us from the far away edge of the Universe faster than the speed of light. Since the edge of the Universe is so far away, the events we are observing there took place billions of years ago, and no one could say what is going on there now, assuming that the concept of "now" has any meaning in such discussions anyway.
Michelson and Morley.
I applaud you. Someone is very well read.
Years ago I once watched a Jewish Rabbi on TV who was also a PHD physicist.
He explained God's creation of the universe in seven days like this:
Take an elastic band and mark it in seven 1 inch sections with each section one of the days God used to create the universe.
Then take that band and stretch it out as far as you can. The original one inch then becomes maybe 3 or four inches representing the expansion of time between the bang and the creation of all of earth. At least that's what I thought he said........But what do I know.
Maybe not: if the Universe is curved, you would never see an edge. What you would always see is the potion of space farthest away from where you started, until you began to see your starting point in the distance ahead of you.
Yes but moving a femto-second backwards in time really doesn’t get you much
No, thats not it. You are misperceiving what is going on. What is really going on is that time is taxed. The Progressives long ago passed a tax on time and its taxed on a progressive tax table. When time becomes more valuable to you, it is taxed at a much higher rate. Not only that, they instituted Time Tax Withholding so that it is taken out of your time as you use it instead of saving it up and paying your time tax in a lump tax. Think about it. When you had a deadline for studying for a test in college or had a deadline looming at work, your time was very valuable to you and for some reason you never seemed to have enough time to get everything done? Right? Or you were enjoying your vacation, again, very valuable time, yet it just flew by. These are taxed at a very high time tax rate. The more valuable the time, the higher the tax rate the time is taxed at. Remember the time when you were first dating the love of your life? You could never get enough time because that time was the most valuable of all. Whoo Boy, 90% tax rate!
On the other hand, time while you are sitting waiting for your flight at an airport, not so valuable, so it just plods on. Low value times, taxed REALLY LOW. . . You dont even want to know what the tax rate is for time spent with someone elses screeching kids.
Time taxed from you is given to bureaucrats to spend on thinking up more useless regulations. . .
I’ve always thought that time spend at depositions or CLEs is deducted twice from my life.
Thats the obviously the Alternative Minimum Time Tax kicking in. ;^)
I just can't wrap my brain around that concept. My brain can only accept forward, backward, up, down, left and right. If I'm at the end of the universe there has to be a direction that I look at that contains nothingness.......
I guess that's why Einstein never returned my calls or PHD physicists never returned my letters and asked me for advice....and my Geometry teacher flunked me...LOL!
You would not see an edge. It would just look like more space. If you actually could keep going you would come back to the solar system.
I thought space curvature was still an open question?
And there is the type of curvature too!
Uh, no. While the results would certainly be personally disastrous, "a few million hydrogen atoms" are not enough to cause a blast seen throughout the Universe, regardless of what those atoms interact with and how they do it.
Even if one were to convert a human body (that's roughly 7x10e27 atoms for a 70 kg [154 lb] human, or seven billion billion billion atoms, about 2/3 of them hydrogen) entirely to energy, that's still a small blast on the scale of the Universe.
We most likely have no way to comprehend it.
>>seems like she would be shooting through atm of varying densities.<<
The density measure of most ATMs is $20.
Ah, found a reference for the apparent speed change.
“As Henk Schuring and David Vogel have stated, the speed of light is slightly slower in the atmosphere, due to the index of refraction. The speed of light, at sea level, is roughly 299,703,000m/s. In a vacuum, the speed of light is set, by the new definition of a meter, at 299,792,458m/s.”
Oh my.
“Introduction Full-time scientist. Before graduating I learned that the speed of light is slowing down and originated the “GM=tc^3” theory, which explains the dark energy problem and most physicists still can’t explain. More recent work seeks Black Holes in some unexpected places, even within Earth. I’ve been working at NASA in Houston on studies of the Moon, and have an insider’s view of the Space program. Actress in film, television and stages from Honolulu to Houston. In spare time I fight off hostile aliens, explore a strange world and unusual forms of life.
