Does anyone who flies in the U.S. look forward to going through a TSA security line? You could probably make good money in Vegas by putting all your chips on No. You can make the TSA security line experience easier on yourself, however, just by taking a few simple steps.
1. Even if you fly only a couple times a year, itll be worth it to you to apply for the Transportation Security Administrations Precheck program. It costs $85, is good for five years and requires an application and background check, but nothing else comes remotely close to getting you through TSA airport security at top speed and with no additional examination.
2. If you travel with a carry-on bag, do whatever you can to make it easy for TSA security officers to see everything in it on their x-ray machines. Cluttered carry-ons almost always lead to a further examination by explosive trace detection machines.
3. Dont go through a TSA security line wearing a bunch of jewelry. The agency uses metal detectors for the most part to screen travelers, and metals trigger them. The same goes for belts with metal buckles as well as shoes with steel-reinforced soles. Heres a rule: Travel for comfort, not for the disco.

Sure, just go stark naked with no luggage. Simple.
Never heard of CLEAR and have no idea what he's talking about. There is a Mobile app for clearing customs. Sometimes it has its own line, other times it's the same line as Global Entry. Since it's free, it's something else to have in your tool kit for clearing customs.
Do NOT wear pants with metal mounting buttons for suspenders.
Bad advice.
Get Global Entry for $100 and TSA Precheck is included, same five year validity. Global Entry now works at many, if not all cruise ports as well. We travel overseas once a year and it is well worth the extra $15.00.
I flew out of Chicago last week and with TSA PreCheck I barely broke stride going through security with the good old fashioned metal detectors. No Nude-O-Scopes for me!
Delta left DFW a long time ago — they come into Love to get to the DFW area.
The author makes the incorrect assumption that the agents want to get you through quickly.
They don’t care about that it all.
Yes, GOES gets you Pre Check (and NEXUS gets you GOES).
But at DFW the Pre check line is frequently longer than the steerage line. CLEAR would be great there.
Being the grey man is what matters. Dont be conspicuous or noticeable.
Um, no? Delta flies to both DFW and Love.
I am flying in/out of DFW on Delta next week.
When did they start letting you wear shoes through TSA check point...
TSA pre allows you to go through with your shoes and belt on and your laptop inside a case.
i did notice that the TSA pre-check procedure at DFW includes removing your belts as they have either turned on the metal detectors or raised the gain.
Yeah, me too. Darned shame, a new airline to our terminal offers $39 introductory fee for a one way ticket to Denver. I can't drive it that cheap. But, I'm sticking to my guns. I drive not fly. Thanks TSA for screwing up one more industry.
Back at the end of the ‘hub’ days, Delta “left” Dallas, but they are big there in terms of flights. They have several gates in E, plus a Sky Lounge there. Even flew out of D on Delta.
DFW is an interesting airport for sure.
Precheck really speeds things up. Only flown since I signed up 3 years ago but it was well worth it.
What’s to stop a terrorist from signing up for Precheck?
Sleeper cells would breeze thru the background check— no prior record, no problem.
Clear is $15 a month and you use fingerprint/retina scans to identify yourself. Saves tons fo time if you fly much
Best way to avoid the TDA hassel is to not fly period.
I don’t and have no reason or need to do so.
I thought they left completely.
Yeah, I remember when Terminal E was “D Street” and Delta built it up. Then they relocated to DAL. I thought they left completely.
DFW is easy to navigate once you understand the Skylink system. You can traverse the entire airport (leave a station and return to the same one) in 1/2 hour.
No matter what terminal I am taking I always check in at Terminal D b/c that is where the Centurion (AmEx) Club is.
Pre check. Its $85, but surprisingly easy to get done. Took about 10 minutes of actual time to present documents, get photographed, and fingerprinted.
The TSA person was quite pleasant; even let me have a photo do over when I didnt look beautiful enough in the first one. But, that may be attributable to her being local to our lovely, very red community.
I know a few times at DFW airport they closed the TSA Pre-Check area in the evening.
