My High School used to use JET-A to dry off the football field ...

It was put in a helicopter’s fuel tanks ... the pilot would fly patterns low over the field; rotor wash dried it out.

Sounds really crazy to me but I read several posts on social media today that claimed that was a method regularly used to dry baseball fields in the past. I have no idea...any baseball gurus know?

You realize that after doing that, the field will need a complete HAZMAT inspection per EPA regulations before it can be used for human activity again, right? It’s not a designated fuel contaminated area such as gas stations and car repair facilities which have extensive checks. And I would imagine the school district will have to pay thousands for this to happen, if they didn’t also have to pay fines as well.
