Recently discovered tomb of official dating back more than 2,000 years contains dozens of animals and two mummies
Dozens of mummified mice were among the animals found in an ancient Egyptian tomb that was unveiled on Friday. The well-preserved and finely painted tomb near the Egyptian town of Sohag a desert area near the Nile about 390km (242 miles) south of Cairo is thought to be from the early Ptolemaic period, dating back more than 2,000 years....
...Ptolemaic rule spanned about three centuries until the Roman conquest in 30 BC.

I heard once that the Egyptians mummified mice so that their mummified cats would have something to eat.
I’m pretty sure cats ran the whole works. ;^)
Mouse jerky?
The first version of the story of “ Of mice and men.”
Led to the invention of dental floss.
LOL
They still do. That’s one thing Douglas Adams got wrong.
Mummified or simply desiccated and thus petrified?
I didn’t see any Mouse-sized winding cloths, as one might have done for pets.
My first thought as well, and got distracted before I had the chance to post it. Thanks.
Perhaps we can clone the cat mummies and the mouse mummies and see if the cats eat the mice...thus validating the value of mummification as done by the ancients.
After reading the article. We should clone the falcons too.
1Sa 6:3 And they said: ‘If ye send away the ark of the God of Israel, send it not empty; but in any wise return Him a guilt-offering; then ye shall be healed, and it shall be known to you why His hand is not removed from you.’
1Sa 6:4 Then said they: ‘What shall be the guilt-offering which we shall return to Him?’ And they said: ‘Five golden emerods, and five golden mice, according to the number of the lords of the Philistines; for one plague was on you all, and on your lords.
1Sa 6:5 Wherefore ye shall make images of your emerods, and images of your mice that mar the land; and ye shall give glory unto the God of Israel; peradventure He will lighten His hand from off you, and from off your gods, and from off your land.
