This phone prank on a telemarketer by Tom Mabe. Someone posted it here several years ago. I just watched it again - still gets me laughing.

I like to push the button to get a real person. Then I say, “Hi, I just thought I waste your time like you just wasted mine. Now go get a real job.”

I’ve periodically gotten phone messages saying that if I didn’t call them back immediately, they will proceed to have me arrested. And it’s always some digitally created female voice on the message. I’ve also gotten calls claiming to be from Microsoft, and that there is a problem with my computer. I yell at them, and tell them I don’t own or use any Microsoft products, so why the F are they calling me? I’ve been an Apple user for many years.

Cell. Most calls are out of area prefixes. I usually flag these call as Junk. So when “Junk” pops up I don’t answer.

On my cell phone its just as bad..I dont want to download the nomorerobo app so I just block numbers that call my phone but they still call..and leave messages, about mortgage rates, I dont even own a house LOL yet they still call..or if I want to pay less for my health care, etc etc its annoying as hell. I heard about that scam where they want you to say “YES” when they call you, a few weeks back someone claiming to be calling from Dell(Even though it said private caller) said they were calling about an issue about a recalled motherboard on my PC, kept on wanting me to say YES like “Are you near your computer” so I said “UH HUH” I knew it was bogus when he told me to reboot my computer, thats not how you find out what BIOS you have even I know that and I dont know much about hardware so I hung up on him

I get those daily. They supposedly have something to do with getting Chinese into this country.

I’ve been called, twice now, from someone claiming to represent a fraternal police officers organization soliciting money for fallen officers families. When I pressed him for contact information he gave me a PO Box address and phone number, both of which turned out to be phony, but no website address. I told him that my number is on the national no call list and that I was surprised that he didn’t know that or chose to ignore it if he was, indeed, legitimate. So, folks, beware of scams preying on your good graces for seemingly good causes.

The biggest hoax is when someone tells you that the attempt to make you say “yes” is an urban myth. It isn’t.

Ooma. Our preference is to route all calls directly to voicemail except for those numbers in our contacts list. Can’t rely on the blocking software to ignore calls because occasionally a legit number finds its way to their lists.

I haven’t had a land line in years. I have a list of names
in my phone and if isn’t one of them then I don’t answer and
it goes to voice mail. If they don’t leave a message I don’t
return the call.

Sometimes I answer the local # too, except I say nothing and put them on speaker. Listen carefully, if it is a robo or telemarketer the background is waiting for your voice to activate either one. Since I never say a word, there’s no voice activation....it times out. Many times that ends it for good.

I think the Robo callers have high paid lobbyist.
The only explanation why out elected reps are a no show on the issue.

With our landline, we let Ooma take care of business. With our cell phones, if I don’t recognize the number I answer, wait a few seconds, then hang up. That way, I don’t end up needing to call into voicemail and wasting my time just to find out it was a garbage call. One time in the past year, I had a repeat call, and it ended up being legit. That number is now in my contacts list.

I got one call from a telemarketer scammer who spoofed a number of a major refinery that happens to be one of my clients. I told the caller that I knew the owner of the refinery, and the owner happened to be a friend of Erik Prince.

I’ve had that one several times. Knowing that the police are not allowed to solicit for donations, I tell him to come to my place to collect, and I’ll have the real police waiting for him.

Scambaiters enter into a dialogue with scammers, simply to waste their time and resources. Whilst you are doing this, you will be helping to keep the scammers away from real potential victims and screwing around with the minds of deserving thieves.

Their stories are awesome.
