I’ve been called, twice now, from someone claiming to represent a fraternal police officers organization soliciting money for fallen officers families. When I pressed him for contact information he gave me a PO Box address and phone number, both of which turned out to be phony, but no website address. I told him that my number is on the national no call list and that I was surprised that he didn’t know that or chose to ignore it if he was, indeed, legitimate. So, folks, beware of scams preying on your good graces for seemingly good causes.

I’ve had that one several times. Knowing that the police are not allowed to solicit for donations, I tell him to come to my place to collect, and I’ll have the real police waiting for him.
