Drone shot of ergets and herons roosting in the middle of shallow lake.
Ducks on the wing
Sandhill cranes in a low speed, low altitude fly bye.
Nothing says breakfast like a fat, juicy rat.
Anhinga or water turkey. (Shot this with my new to me $5.00 Nikon P600)
Thanks Chipper for the suggestion.
Birdy PING!!
Lovely.
Thank you.
I’ve always wanted to see the Sand Hill Cranes in Nebraska, but haven’t gotten that far, yet.
I think of Swampsniper often & the beautiful pics he shared w/ us.
So many talented FReepers who have left us...
Great! Thanks for the post.
The ducks are Blue-Winged Teal.
SWAMPSNIPER Ping!
Our budgie ran away from us this weekend... Freedom!
I would suggest editing copyright info in the metadata for each image before posting online.

Wonderful photos, thank you!
Thanks for the Ping...
So miss His relaxing quite soothing posts, what a loss.
It seems that swampsniper’s photos would start popping up around this time of the year. Spring came much earlier in his neck of the woods than it does in Seattle where it is still cool and grey.
But his posts were always a sign of things to come - and the beauty that Spring brings. They were (as this thread is) a sign of Hope!
I’m glad that I was able to tell him the same thing years ago. Quite a gift you photographers have. Although just the other day I got a photograph of a Varied Thrush. Through a dirty windshield with a lousy camera phone at 30 feet with a crummy zoom. But it was enough to jog my memory of what it looked like when I got home to my bird watching book!

RIP Swampsniper
WOW!
Thanks!
I love feeding the gulls on the wing. They are like rats with wings, but oh so nimble in the air. If you don’t mind, I will post your photo for all to enjoy.
Yummy!
Carolina Wren
American White Ibis
One thing that impressed me about his photography was his ability to get great photos with 'obsolete' gear. His cameras were old, but he knew how to get the best from them. He inspired me to explore some older gear.
I think of him frequently.
