The electric motorcycle that Harley-Davidson announced back in 2014 is finally hitting the market this year.
Since 2014, Harley-Davidson has been working on developing its first electric motorcycle; at the Consumer Electronics Show on Monday, the company announced that the 2020 LiveWire model is finally available for pre-order before its official August launch.

My apologies, for some reason I thought you could go 200 or 300 miles on a tank of gas.

I was thinking an electric vehicle and night vision goggles would be great for some kind of stealth operation when I was watching “Escaping Polygamy.”

"...electric motorcycle..."
If they can extend the range to 300+ miles they will perhaps have a retail hit on their hands.
Electric motors have tons of torque and it will lead to very fast motorcycles with tremendous acceleration.
The capability to speak between pilot and passenger without intercoms or screaming will not go unnoticed.

It’s not a terrible idea to do an electric Harley. Why not? But with a modest range and priced at 30k, this is a luxury toy for a very limited market. Hard to imagine it moving the needle much for H-D’s overall sales.

It is terrible mistake. Harley buyers make fun of idiots that drive electric vehicles. And rightly so.
I see the staff of Monkey Wards all found new jobs.

Thanks Captain Peter Blood. They should hire Chevy Chase for the ad campaign, have him on the EV, chased (ahem) by a bunch of toughs on conventional bikes. Can't imagine where the idea came from. ;^)

A friend rode one recently and said it screamed (acceleration-wise) and that it was hard to hold on to (and he’s a big, beefy guy).

I was thinking something similar. Great post-SHTF transport if they could bring the price down 50%.

110 Miles on a charge is not very far compared to the gasoline engine that will give you several hundred miles on a tank.
People like to make that comparison, but, it's a lot worse than that for any EV versus a fuel-powered vehicle.
A fuel-powered vehicle can go around the U.S. and back and do it all again, many times, and the only time they need to stop is for a very tiny amount of time, somewhere around 5 minutes each time. IOW, fuel-powered range is unlimited, while an EV has to stop for hours in order to get recharged fully.

China and India buy motorbikes in numbers that dwarf the American market. Electric versions fit those markets. HD wants in on that market.
