If we cut the cord, what is the best way to get TV via the web?

Get an Android TV box and install Kodi and the latest best-working addons. It changes from month to month as the good ones get shut down.

You’re late in the game. You can watch ANY show on the web by WatchSeries. If you hate going online again because you’re wifi sucks, but you wanna keep the copy, it’s by torrent. For example, the Walking Dead torrent will show up around 12 hours from now, use utorrent. You wanna watch sports but your anti virus will be on defcon 4, it’s watchsports..

I’ve experimented with Sling, Sony PlayStation Vue and amazon fire TV. Each works as expected and I liked them all just fine, however my significant other couldn’t tolerate the channel guide layouts and remote control features (too much navigating). We still have cable (for now) but i’m making slow progress with Fire TV. Now she is hooked on subscription programming that cannot be found on cable...:)

We solved it by not watching TV. That’s why we want to see the liberal, leftists brought down. We’re not brainwashed by them.

Smart TV has Wifi. Or get a Roku or Amazon Firestick which will connect to your Wifi. You can download many apps to get free and subscription channels.

I have my own cable modem and my own router, both of which are far superior to the ones you can rent from the cable company. It took about 1 year to get to the break even point of own vs. rent.

I have a Roku hardware device which I direct connect to the router with an ethernet cable. Going wireless there might work OK; I don’t know.

I subscribe to a service on 1st Sept. to watch college football and basketball and turn it off after March Madness. I used to subscribe to Sling TV ($30/month) with sports package, but this year I went with Hulu ($40/month) with...lots of stuff. With Hulu I can watch Fox News but not on Sling TV.

What kind of antenna are you using - indoor or outdoor?

When we cut cable and got Roku, we bought a Mohu Leaf (apartment dwellers); it didn’t work well and doesn’t do much at all now.

There are several services that you can subscribe to individually. Most of the lean left but the deal is you get to pick the one that rather than being forced.

You need a computer but it does not have to be a super expensive one and a TV, both need an HDMI plug. Effectively you use your TV as a monitor and subscribe to various streaming services

They all have free trial periods and for the most part they are easy to cancel

The four biggies are
Netflix
Amazon Prime
Hulu
CBS All Access

My opinion:
Hulu is worthless.

Netflix is pretty good in that it is easy to tailor the setting to avoid what you don’t want to see and has the easiest interface. Yes there is a lot of offensive material but there are also a lot of Christian movies and stuff from the Hallmark Channel and older movies. For the price it is hard to beat.

Amazon has a HUGE selection of things in prime as well as dozens of ass on “Channels” for specialty interest including sports but the interface is cumbersome. Maybe if you don’t think the Alexa talking box is Satanic it is easier.

CBS All Access should be called CBS Some Access. NOt every show done by CBS is there and not every show has all episodes. It is still pretty good but Netflix still has a better interface

You can subscribe most major sports leagues through their websites. I generally buy a video subscription to MLB each year

There are also smaller streaming services like
MHz from Italy that only streams mysteries. They’ve recently done a remake of the Rex Stout Nero Wolfe mysteries.

Many local TV stations have a website that carries the local news and locally produced programs

(Yes I know about the censorship issues) You can also find a huge selection of older programs and documentaries, of various video quality, on YouTube and other sites.

Good mention on the antenna. It’s free and it’s a digital signal so the picture is perfect. No snow or ghosting like the old analog TV.

Should be “Add on channels” not “ass on channels” To my knowledge Amazon doesn’t have a porn channel
