9.) Be happy to see him. Free him with a warm smile and show sincerity in your desire to please him. Listen to him.
10.) You may have a dozen important things to tell him, but the moment of his arrival is not the time. Let him talk first remember, his topics of conversation are more important than yours.
11.) Make the evening his. Never complain if he comes home late or goes out to dinner, or other places of entertainment without you. Instead, try to understand his world of strain and pressure and his very real need to be at home and relax.
12.) Your goal: Try to make sure your home is a place of peace, order and tranquility where you husband can renew himself in body and spirit.
13.) Dont greet him with complaints and problems.
14.) Dont complain if hes late home for dinner or even if he stays out all night. Count this as minor compared to what he might have gone through that day.
15.) Make him comfortable. Have him lean back in a comfortable chair or have him lie down in the bedroom. Have a cool or warm drink ready for him.
16.) Arrange his pillow and offer to take off his shoes. Speak in a low, soothing and pleasant voice.
17.) Dont ask him questions about his actions or question his judgment of integrity. Remember, he is the master of the house and as such will always exercise his will with fairness and truthfulness. You have no right to question him.
18.) A good wife always knows her place.

Id like to see the bona fides on that piece. Looks like fake news created by feminists, designed to put down men and marriage.
If I was doing any of this my Hubby would definitely know there was a homicidal plot in there somewhere.
It doesn’t put down men, or marriage, but conveys an order of things that feels right to most men and that most men would be happy with.
Some modern women clearly don’t want men to be happy.
That fact provides the contrast between their view and the view in the article.

Write and post that.
Quote anything you’re referring to as an absurdity.
Lots do.
Tons do.
Read the comments.
Yes, I know. My comments had nothing to with the “guide” posted here but were general comments regarding relations between men and women.
I will look and let you know. It’s hilarious compared to the societal norms of today.
i know this! I really don’t have a problem with it either, but the wife has to be on board. and for the OP to first declare- “NO man wants this” and then say “ yeah, they do but so what?” is contrary. If you are going to come at me, have your argument on point.
again, to be clear- this is ok by me if all parties are in. and I do believe it was expected behavior of wives in the 50’s and 60’s. “Mad Men” got their material from somewhere!!! and Samantha always had a drink in her hand for Darrin on Bewitched. ( and she coulda turned him into a frog, instead)
It doesnt put down men, or marriage,...
I suspect its intent is to do so, indirectly. What man would actually want that?! What wife would actually do that?!
Typical covert proggie-fem agitprop, to me.
Fair point.
Paint a picture of marriage you call preferable.
Some of this is pure 1955, some of it is BS... All of it was from a time when few middle class women had a ‘job’ other than taking care of the family.
Men during this time were also taught ‘respect’ for their boss and company and country. Much of it would appear quaint or odd by our standards today. For women and men...
It describes a positive dynamic between women and men.
The reason for the ‘women’s movement’ a few years later was that it didn’t work as well in reality as it did in theory... Culture changes tipped the balance away from stay at home ‘mom job’....
i always considered my self lucky to be a stay at home wife and mom. I still do! I have an older sister ( she’s 72 now) that wanted to ROAR, and she did/ does still.
Only thing i regret is not earning $$ to help toward retirement. My sister has alot of moolah now b/c 2 incomes. ( PS> her husband is/was a big cheat!! so she has that, too)
For me, heres a picture of marriage I kinda like ;)
Almost every choice has it’s rewards and drawbacks... If that wasn’t the case we’d all make the choice.
