“It doesn’t put down men, or marriage,...”

I suspect its intent is to do so, indirectly. “What man would actually want that?! What wife would actually do that?!”

Typical covert proggie-fem agitprop, to me.

You know, that list and what you described actually reminds me a bit of MGS3 and The Boss’s definition of what it means to be a soldier and patriotic/devoted to your country.

https://youtu.be/pDXGCTkjD78?t=54

And let me put it this way: The way she was talking, you’re not even supposed to hold to morality or think about it regarding the mission, you’re not even allowed to love, and you’re mandated to obey literally any order you’re given, even if it’s an inherently amoral order like, say, using flamethrowers at a house with an innocent family still inside, or dumping poison in a riverbed to kill off an entire village, be a political tool in other words, to be patriotic/devoted to your country, heck, to be a soldier overall. Certainly the bit where the “list” actually said your spouse is not supposed to be even slightly worried or angry if you stay out all night or come home late sounds very similar. In both cases, it basically seems to teach that to be of that profession, you’d have to be, as someone on GameFAQs (https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/681794-metal-gear-solid-v-the-phantom-pain/69849402) put it regarding that topic, “an unthinking, unfeeling, soulless body that can be told where to point a gun”, or in the case of a housewife, how to manage the home.
