An 18-month-old girl suffered serious wounds to her face when she was mauled by her grandmothers pit bull the second time the same dog attacked a child, officials said Sunday.
The toddler was hospitalized, and may have also suffered an injury to one of her eyes in the attack.
The dog had attacked a child two years ago, and was released under strict conditions to its owner, the grandmother. This time, she ordered the dog killed.
The attack was at 7:40 p.m. Friday at a Riverside home on Fern Avenue in the Casa Blanca neighborhood, said Riverside County Department of Animal Services spokesman John Welsh.
The 11-year-old pit bull, Patron, had previously bitten and seriously injured another of the owners grandchildren in March of 2016, and the department had sought an order to put the dog down then but was denied in an administrative hearing, Welsh said.
However, the dog was declared vicious by the county, meaning that the owner had to follow certain control measure, such as keeping the dog in a secure enclosure.
This owner should have reasonably known this dog posed a danger to a small child, said Animal Services Director Robert Miller in a statement. After a dog is deemed vicious, it is absolutely reckless if the owner does not take the mandated steps to protect family members and the general public.
The owner surrendered the dog to animal services for euthanasia, said Welsh. Whether charges would be filed against the owner would be decided later. Grandmas Pit Bull Mauls Toddler: Child Second Kid Victim of Vicious Dog was last modified: August 6th, 2018 by Contributing Editor

Hence no pictures or names of the family. Grandma’s dog might be getting snuck out of the house by little pedro to go dog fighting.
I’ve noticed you don’t really see the names/faces of the owners unless they happen to be white. If it’s some MS-13 looking dude, the MSM isn’t going to put a pic up because they don’t want Hispanics too look bad or anything.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fatal_dog_attacks_in_the_United_States
Starts in 1887 and no fatal pit bull attacks until 1945, 1965, 1981 and then in the 2000s it’s pretty regular and just in the last 20 years they become the predominate killer dog breed.
Why is that? I’ve observed myself the popularity of certain breeds at certain times that are the favorite “Badass dog” that certain people prefer. Dog fighters, drug dealers, tough guys and general jackasses.
1970s - German Shepherds
1980s - Dobermans
1990s - Rottweilers
So how is it that considering they were brought here over 100 years ago that all of the sudden in the last 20 years they became killers?
Another thing I’ve noticed is that many, if not most of these articles don’t show pics/vids of the owners. Some don’t even mention their names. It’s almost like they’re trying to protect certain groups of people. Kind of like “gang of youths”. They did show that one white guy from Florida recently. The one with the tattoos running up his neck onto his shaved head. They don’t mind showing white people if they make white people look bad.
Most of the pit bull owners around here look similar to that guy except his tattoos were nicer because around here, all the pit bull owners are meth heads for the most part. Their idea of obedience training? Kick the shit out of it.
yup, so either pit bulls just lost their mind in the past 20 years or they became popular with dipshits and dumbasses and popularized by the MSM. Hey, 20-30 years is about how long we’ve been flooded with Hispanics to the extreme. They love dog fighting down in Ctrl/South America. Cock fighting too. But hey, coon hunters in the US seem to get a thrill out of watching a dog and coon fight. At a buck or two a pelt, it ain’t the money.
Pit bulls are the ‘Dog of Choice’ for drug dealers and thugs in the hoods.............
and meth heads out here in the boonies too. I’ve met 5 of them but 4 of them are in jail right now so who knows where the dogs ended up. Probably inbred anyway. That’s a major problem with any animal. Keep breeding them to their sisters, mother, fathers, brother etc, over and over and they get stupid. That might be a problem with some of the meth heads too by the looks of it.
LOL, Well I’m a half pit bull owner and I’m missing some hair but I didn’t shave it off. Never had the inclination to get a tattoo. Not a self proclaimed tough guy. Just a family man, blue collar guy.
That would explain California..................
Because they were brought over here for farm work and as fighting dogs. Farmers work around lots of other dangerous animals; bulls, spirited horses, mules, six hundred pound hogs etc... and farmers tend to have either a weapon or a tool that makes a good weapon on them.
They weren't brought over here as pets they were work dogs for jobs that sometimes required a sturdy dog that can bite and not let go even if they are taking grueling punishment.
Your statistics coincide with the transition from the purpose to which they were specifically bred into being pets.
Well they were here long before German Shepherds, Dobermans and Rottweilers because those breeds didn’t show up until after WWII. Meanwhile, you have fatal attacks from those German breeds more than Pit Bulls up until the 1908s with a few exceptions and you still have them from those other breeds even though there’s a lot less of them.
Pit Bulls are being singled out due to the fact that there’s so many of them and a lot of they’re owners are wacko themselves.
Shepherds, Dobermans, Rottweilers, Huskies, Malamute and many others topped Pit Bulls for a long time in fatal attacks yet Pit Bulls were here the whole time. In fact, they were an American icon for a short time. RCA logo, a president had one, Little Rascals iirc. That was all during the 40s-50s when there was hardly any fatal Pit Bull attacks yet they must have been popular and they were kept as pets.
None of the breeds above were pets. Three of them were German guard dogs. The Pit Bull population is huge now compared to the rest and they tend to be owned by irresponsible people, plus, people are generally less responsible these days than they were in the past.
It ain’t the breed of the dog, it’s the breed of the people.
Now of course some people are crazy, some dogs are crazy, some cats are crazy etc etc
On Thursday, August 9, 2018, a resident of a Lake Tillery development on the western side of Montgomery County went missing while taking her daily walk. After several hours the 66 year old female did not return home. Her husband called neighbors and friends who searched the area. They were unable to locate her and call 911. Sheriffs deputies and search and rescue were sent to the scene. Within hours she was discovered deceased on the side of an unused road within the development. An investigation was conducted with the assistance of the Medical Examiners Office, NC Wildlife Resources Commission and Animal Control. The investigation revealed she had been attacked by dogs. Law enforcement searched the neighborhood and located two pit bull dogs with physical evidence reflecting the dogs involvement.
