Origins of Cinco De Mayo?
fairy tale?

Mexicans love mayonnaise. They ordered a huge shipment and a ship sailed from Europe with a full shipment of Mayonnaise. As it was crossing the Bermuda Triangle, it mysteriously began sinking.
The captain wired the shipping company in Europe, "we have run into a serious problem in the Bermuda Triangle, and ship is sinking". The captain was not good in Spanish, so he wired port authorities in Mexico, "Sinko De Mayo". Later on it was changed to Cinco de Mayo!

Today is Cinco de Mayo, be sure to eat some Taco's or enchilada's smothered with Mayonnaise.

A few years ago I designed a Cinco de Mayo poster for a local bar that featured a picture of five jars of mayonnaise.

When my dad told me this one back in 1976, I groaned.

1. Apostrophes. Please.
2a. Cinco de Mayo celebrates Mexico's victory over the French in a localized battle which, in Mexico, is only celebrated in that region. It is only a national holiday in the USA, because, like "Saint Patrick's Day," it is considered a reason to drink.
2b. The battle itself was nominally inconclusive. As you might imagine in a battle between the Mexicans and the French, nobody knew what the heck was going on.
3. Yes, even Mexicans can kick France's ass in battle. Sort of.
And that's all you need to know about Cinco de Mayo.
With compliments, G.

Since the illegals don’t want “Trump supporters” misappropriating their Sinko de Mayo beer holiday, I suggest we Americans start our own beer holiday observing the Battle of San Jacinto. We can have contests to see who can chug the most beers in 18 minutes. (The length of the battle).

Originally the ship was the Titanic.

May I suggest you read about what happened between the French and Mexicans at Camerone April 30 1863. Good post.

At my age (78 this month, and proud of it, and don’t understand why some people are ashamed of their age) only thing that bothers me is eating too many beans. As for culture is concerned, I chose to become a US citizen back in 1970 because I loved the culture as it was in the 1960’s,especially early 1960’s. I am not liking bi-lingualism, cultural diversity, accepting illegal immigrants as good people, and lack of strict control on who gets to vote. But hey, I can’t complain, life is good.

To enjoy a corny joke like this, it helps to be at or past middle age, and a beer in hand. The jokes I laughed at most were with a martini in hand in company of fellow golfers.
