At my very first job in New York, a colleague jokingly informed me: You came in a WASP, but youre leaving a Jew.
That statement was in reference to the demographics of the offices staff. Almost everyone who worked there was Jewish, and I, a recent college graduate who had spent my adolescence in a largely Christian community in the South, was not. At the time, I had no idea she would end up being so right.
As a teenager, I attended exactly one bat mitzvah, but moving to New York provided endless opportunities to learn about the Jewish faith. Friends invited me to join their families for Passover seders and Hanukkah celebrations. However, it was through my various romantic relationships where I learned the most about Judaism a religious faith and culture I have grown to love and respect, but that has also contributed to two of my biggest heartbreaks.

Well, I wasn’t going that far. I just wondered why she thought that being blonde, wearing pearls, making strong drinks and having ‘good manners’ somehow identified her as ‘WASPy’ - as opposed to any number of other ethnic groups.
(On the other hand, there are lots of blonde or red-haired and blue-eyed Jews in the world - I fell in love with one once, and it didn’t surprise me at all that he wanted to end up with a nice Jewish girl ;-)
There are a lot of ‘outliers’ in the world who are happy going off differently from their background; but most people seem to want to be with others who are like them and with whom they share certain ways of looking at things - culture, background, faith. Seems like a no-brainer, to me.
+1
I guess you’re playing ‘devil’s advocate’, if you don’t understand ‘Nazarene’.
I love me some fish tacos...
Donald Fagen is Jewish though I found his jazzy style and lyrics prep school wasp arty
Walter Becker was Fagens classmate at Bard and not Jewish and died last fall
Skunk Baxter their best guitarist and later a Doobie and defense consultant not Jewish
Michael McDonald also a doobie later obviously not Jewish
Denny Dias and David Palmer both not Jewish
Fagen is most definitely and is arguably by a hair over Becker the soul of the band via his vocals
Not a Jewish band
biggest Jewish rock bands
KISS
J GEILS BAND....namesake was only goy
Susannah Hoffs cause Ive always loved her deliciousness
So many Jews are in the show biz
Bruce Springsteen isn’t Jewish
But my mother thinks he is
Well, maybe if a woman distinguished herself from all the other women available in the pool of a rich jew guy, they could have him stick around.
Every single woman , jewish or not, likes a guy for his qualities as rich, intelligent, connected etc... but do they really know him? His particular passions whether they be an author or a hobby? Do they show interest in him as who he is better than a jewish mother would? Do they understand his struggles as a jew and keeping up with the tradition? Are they supportive?
What makes this woman any better and different than the other ordinary hs out there he might be having around himself by the dozen.
It is her, not his preference for jewish women who are just another boring default fall back relationship to stabilize their emotional preoccupations
It is a sociological fact that the average chick (80-90%) out there reading Romance books and watching 50 shades has the exact same shallow interests as the next average chick.
Just ask those guys who have a “social standing” allowing them to have many dates, and they pretty much are generic agendas. The issue is how can this girl in this rant stand out from all the other “btches” in the guy’s mind. And true that, what does she being to the relationship? He brings a very rich jewish culture while she has her vague washed out “WASP” credentials, whatever the hell that means
“The mans a 90 year old loon bigot”
Wow, let’s take your reply to the above apart, false statement, by false statement:
“Well yes, that’s who was leading Judaism in Israel”
Nope.
First off, there is no Sanhedrin and no recognized leadership group of Judaism.
Second, he was a Chief Sephardic Rabbi.
Which makes him about as relevant to the average Israeli as Reverend Al Sharpton is to you.
I guess since this kook is, according to you, a fair representative of Judaism, we can start quoting Al Sharpton as an authority on all things Protestant.
Man, that will be some great quotes about what Protestants believe!
“as established by Israeli law.”
Um, no. Israeli law basically says “our government is separate from religion; each group go make their own rules.”
“He is dead now and his son has taken his place as the Chief Sephardi Rabbi, apparently still making the same types of comments as his dad.”
No idea. The only people who pay attention are his followers and bigots quote mining.
“The old Catholic joke can’t be used anymore (”is the Pope Catholic?”), but I think we can ask, “Is the Chief Rabbi of Israel Jewish!?””
That’s a false dichotomy. The Pope is Catholic and this loon is Jewish, but both appear to hold beliefs heretical to their respective religion.
Why are you talking about Sanhedrin gibberish and not the official Chief Rabbinate in Israel? Is that not a legal entity? Is it not recognized by Jewish law as the Chief Rabbinate in Israel? Is it not part of the Jewish judicial system dealing with matters related to Jewish religion? So why are you talking about all this unrelated stuff instead of the Chief Rabbinate?
Um, no. Israeli law basically says our government is separate from religion; each group go make their own rules.
So why are there all these articles, if I google it, of Leftist Jews complaining "we're supposed to be a secular government, but we have this Chief Rabbinate thing in our country making all these decisions that affect the entire country?" Maybe you should learn how to google to learn something about your country?
“Why are you talking about Sanhedrin gibberish and not the official Chief Rabbinate in Israel?”
Because I’m not a racist idiot and actually know how my government works.
lol you've literally been contradicted on both points, both with the Shiksa revelations and your feigned ignorance about your government in Israel.
Only if you wake up married to it.
It’s difficult to tell if you are a troll or are so stupid you think you are making valid points.
Time for a Jewish joke:
Ira Levy is having dinner with his wife. After dinner he confesses to her that he has been having an affair and points out his mistress sitting at the bar . “A Shiksa! I should drop dead!” his wife exclaims. Ira tried to reassure her. “All the men have mistresses. David Shapiro’s mistress is sitting at the table next to us”. Ira’s wife responds “Our’s is much better looking”.
Excuse me. We are trying to have a ultra secret conspiracy here. Please return to controlling the entire International banking system from your flip phone.
And please make Duke Power stock go up 10 points today. The symbol is DUK. Thanks
Oh please. Don't try and make it sound educational, all the Jews who boned and then dumped you.
It just makes you look pathetic, girl!
Never ever date people from your work place..........you will eventually regret it...................
Isn’t Jesus also supposedly forever boiling in a vat of semen, in hell?
I thought I heard that somewhere.
