“The man’s a 90 year old loon bigot”

Wow, let’s take your reply to the above apart, false statement, by false statement:

“Well yes, that’s who was leading Judaism in Israel”

Nope.

First off, there is no Sanhedrin and no recognized leadership group of Judaism.

Second, he was a Chief Sephardic Rabbi.

Which makes him about as relevant to the average Israeli as Reverend Al Sharpton is to you.

I guess since this kook is, according to you, a fair representative of Judaism, we can start quoting Al Sharpton as an authority on all things Protestant.

Man, that will be some great quotes about what Protestants believe!

“as established by Israeli law.”

Um, no. Israeli law basically says “our government is separate from religion; each group go make their own rules.”

“He is dead now and his son has taken his place as the Chief Sephardi Rabbi, apparently still making the same types of comments as his dad.”

No idea. The only people who pay attention are his followers and bigots quote mining.

“The old Catholic joke can’t be used anymore (”is the Pope Catholic?”), but I think we can ask, “Is the Chief Rabbi of Israel Jewish!?””

That’s a false dichotomy. The Pope is Catholic and this loon is Jewish, but both appear to hold beliefs heretical to their respective religion.

First off, there is no Sanhedrin and no recognized leadership group of Judaism.

Why are you talking about Sanhedrin gibberish and not the official Chief Rabbinate in Israel? Is that not a legal entity? Is it not recognized by Jewish law as the Chief Rabbinate in Israel? Is it not part of the Jewish judicial system dealing with matters related to Jewish religion? So why are you talking about all this unrelated stuff instead of the Chief Rabbinate?

Um, no. Israeli law basically says “our government is separate from religion; each group go make their own rules.”

So why are there all these articles, if I google it, of Leftist Jews complaining "we're supposed to be a secular government, but we have this Chief Rabbinate thing in our country making all these decisions that affect the entire country?" Maybe you should learn how to google to learn something about your country?
