That’s Andy Reid. He did that a lot with the Eagles.
I boycott anti-american companies as much as possible. As a result of the kneelers and fist pumpers, I haven’t just tuned out of the NFL, I’ve changed which beers I drink, which snack foods I buy, and written off Papa John’s completely.
It’s true there are many companies not worth supporting. But sometimes it’s tough to avoid. With the NFL it’s easy.
Best of all, the NFL is uniquely situated to reflect the results of a boycott with published attendance, viewership, and merchandises sales figures. Microsoft, Verizon, Disney, and Target will never provide such a demonstrable platform for cause and effect.
Thanks for the civil response ConservativeWarrior.
This whole thing is (or at least was, until they pledged $80 million or something to “social justice” causes in the next ten years) completely symbolic.
Until that, it was 100% symbolic by a portion of NFL players. I, more than many, also agree on the power of symbolism, so I see your point.
Thing is, these companies I mentioned (and many more, these are just a few) send actual money through matching funds of employee contributions to a real murderers row of liberal causes, enough to turn your stomach for real.
I view these kinds of things (boycotting, etc) as personal decisions, and I don’t disparage Freepers for for patronizing entities I find simply appalling such as Coca Cola, General Mills, Target, and JC Penney, or if they watch anything on television (which I don’t except for one game a week) or if they see a movie with Sean Penn.
I disagree with them, but I leave it at that. As I said, I view these as personal decisions. I don’t insult others for their choices, and I feel that it should be reciprocated.
As you said, sometimes it is easy, and sometimes it is tough. If Jim Robinson wanted to, he could have these threads banned, but he is a conservative guy, and he likely thinks that we can have a discussion without people getting shouted down. If he wanted to ban them, I would certainly abide by that, since I have long understood it is his website, and what he tolerates is up to him.
In my opinion, I don’t think this is something Freepers should be going after other Freepers for. There are a lot of active duty personnel who still watch the NFL and don’t see the actions of the “kneelers” as directed against them.
I don’t mind people disagreeing, I just mind the disagreeableness.
It will not be watched at my house on Saturday either. I'll be at the game.
Hope the ratings are a record low this year.
AFC: #5 Tennessee[X] at #4 Kansas City
NFC: #6 Atlanta at #3 L.A. Rams[X]
AFC: #6 Buffalo at #3 Jacksonville[X]
NFC: #5 Carolina at #4 New Orleans[X]
I appreciate your civility as well.
Would your opinion change if I started posting a weekly Microsoft fanboy thread, or a review of Sean Penn’s latest film?
If you posted critically within either thread, would you expect to be accused of virtue signalling?
No, Jim Robinson hasn’t regulated discussion over the NFL. That means those of us boycotting are free to express our opinion, too.
Well said.
Ya know, Bendy, some folks on this thread would rather go into a gay bakery and force them to bake a cake for their heterosexual wedding, ne c’est pas?
The NFL
Eeh! Phffft!
How Bout em Cowboys!
NFL sucks and a patriotic American wouldnt support them.
Generally...no. Wouldn’t change my opinion, because I don’t much boycott things overall, but I don’t have an issue if someone else does.
I figure that is their business, and I won’t harangue them on it!
Thanks, trisham...I don’t take issue with the different viewpoints people may have on this (even if I don’t think it is justified or thought through) but I do find distasteful the verbal fratricide that I just don’t think is warranted.
I, for the life of me, have never understood the Hue Jackson thing in an environment where winning results are the measuring stick.
I don’t think he is a bad guy, just doesn’t deliver as a coach.
That’s how I feel about Jason Garrett, what has he done in the seven years in Dallas?
I am glad my KC Chiefs got a playoff home game and wish for the best. I still refuse to buy any NFL merchandise until they get rid of Goodell and this whole SJW commie garbage.
I still like pro football. I am prepared to move on to another pro league if the NFL doesn’t straighten up. The NFL’s commie management is sooo stupid, their huge blunder has created an opportunity for another pro football league.
That being said, here is my playoff picks:
My Chiefs over the Titans
Bills over the Jaguars
Falcons over the Rams
Saints over the Panthers
CGato
Yes, he seems like a nice guy, and seems like he wants to do the right things, but...seems also to have a lot of bad luck.
It is interesting that he has been able to survive as long as he has under Jerry Jones, but he still does manage to occasionally get into the playoffs.
I wonder if some of it is that he seems to accept with equanimity the intrusion of Jerry Jones into his job. (as if he has a choice, I suppose)
I also think Jerry knows he’ll never find a better puppet than Jason.
RE: NFL sucks and a patriotic American wouldnt support them.
I’m a patriotic American who has served over twenty years in the US Army. You don’t speak for me.
