119 years after the Treaty of Paris, which enabled the transfer of ownership over Puerto Rico from Spain to the United States, Madrid and Washington have virtually finalized an agreement to return the jurisdiction of the Caribbean island to the European country, confirmed endi.com sources at the three countries.
The deal, which has been negotiated in secret for at least two years, is not official yet, but it has the approval of President Donald Trump of the United States and Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy of Spain, and all that remains is to finalize certain technical details to make the announcement.
An announcement was expected before the end of the year, but it is possible that the emergence of last-minute complications delays approval of the transfer until the first days of 2018. WOW
Go to the bottom of the article: “Editor’s note: this story is not true. Happy April Fool’s Day!”
Bullsh!t.
What icehole planted this?
I was wondering if this should be an April story. Reminds me of a 1979 story in the school paper describing how Missouri would use a loophole to pay its football players by having the Tigers join the NFL but continue to play in the Big 8. The best parody must sound at least a little bit like the truth.
This is stunning news. Does this mean Spain will be responsible for electrical power restoration? What happens to all the pharmaceutical plants operating there? I can’t help but think that the current drug shortages in the US won’t be resolved anytime soon.
I think if you actually put this up for a vote within Puerto Rico....it’d likely pass with 60-percent of the vote.
This is the Spanish equivalent of April Fools Day.
Anyone know the Spanish word for "Onion"?
Is today the Spanish equivalent of April Fools Day?
That said, I hope this story is true. It would create some interesting dual citizenship issues.
Another : clue., our senators are Strange and Shelby
Clearly I should have read the article before posting.
