‘Justice League’: Aquaman Fans Won’t Like the Movie
The Cheat Sheet ^ | November 3, 2017 | Aramide Tinubu

Justice League is gearing up to rake in dough at the box office. The film will bring some of the most beloved and iconic superheroes altogether. Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Flash, Cyborg, and (hopefully) Superman are teaming up to save the world from evil, and we couldn’t be more thrilled.

Following the stunning success of Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman, DC Films seem to have found its footing. Justice League will prove if the studio really has its mojo back or if Jenkins and Gal Gadot, who plays Diana Prince, are simply marvels on their own.

Leading up to the film’s release, DC has been dropping hints about what we can expect to see in Justice League. From some gorgeous colorful new posters to new footage from the films. It seems like with all of those last-minute reshoots and changes, and with Joss Whedon stepping in for Zack Snyder, Justice League might be a film that DC fans can stand behind.

However, Jason Momoa doesn’t exactly think fans will be thrilled — at least not with his character, Aquaman. This is why the Game of Thrones alum thinks Aquaman fans won’t be all that excited about Justice League.

>>Wasn’t the “Justice League” a Saturday morning cartoon?

That was Superfriends, which featured the Justice League of America. The JLA has been in comic books for over 50 years.

Note that for the movies, the JLA has had the “of America” cut off.

He looks like someone who would trigger “extreme vetting”.

Originally it was Justice League, with 4 out of the 7 original members not America (and 2 of 7 not even being Earthlings) that worked. Then came International and America. But most of the time it’s been non-designated.

Who would be an Aquaman fan? I'm not a big comic book guy, but I think he could yell under water and get fish to do things for him.

And he only saved sailors that fell overboard or mermaids or fish.

Charlie the Tuna was more exciting.

That an Aquaman movie would be a massive mega-hit was one of the inside jokes on Entourage.

I wonder if the idea that Jeremy Piven's character could be both a ferocious, foulmouthed Hollywood agent and a devoted family man at the same time was another.

We may find out more about that soon.

Really? In its debut in Brave and the Bold #28 in 1960, it was clearly called the Justice League of America.

The character has had interesting moments in his history. The movie seems to be drawing on the more recent versions, but not keeping the "blond haired white guy" part. Can't have that!

It was ‘Justice League of America’ since the first appearance in Brave &Bold 28 in 1960 until the first series ended at issue 261 in 1987. Then it restarted as a new series without the ‘of America’ later that year in a campy style. Since then there have been multiple titles carrying the first two words ‘Justice League’ or the JLA acronym.

He looks more like a Poseidon/Neptune character but it still seems like a step up from the blond underwater Ken doll.

Aquaman has fans? Who knew?

Dude looks bad-something in the costume & stuff, but I would expect something more like Mike Phelps.

I know a couple of ex-collegiate swimmer types and that’s not the body type you get. But yeah, hollyweird.

Anyway, they’ll be lucky if they pry the money out of me to go watch Star Wars this Christmas. Not big on paying them money anymore. Go fig.

“they built their universe on a termite-eaten foundation by building off of Man of Steel and Batman vs. Superman.”

Yep.

They ruined Superman by not making him what he was in the 1978 movie. If you’d have a Superman that was a wholesome protector of truth, justice, and the American way, Batman (with a proper actor playing him) would have been a perfect compliment to Superman. Instead, you have two characters that come off more like angry vigilantes with the only difference is that one is a ridiculously strong visitor from another planet. It makes little sense. Superman is a pretty boring character if you try and make him all complex and somewhat angry.

It’s a shame they can’t get these characters working together right since they did a very good job with Wonder Woman. I’m not a big fan of comic book movies, but Wonder Woman was fairly decent for some brain dead entertainment. Plus she is so easy to look at :-).

It’s the Trident of Neptune, given to his chosen champion.

A Trident has three prongs.

That is an over grown fork.

What Neptune gives to the meal delivery boy.
