Precisely. You have a lower IQ than you would have had otherwise. Five IQ points on average, more IQ points if you were spanked more than average.

More garbage.
I was spanked regularly.
Was in Gate in elementary school, graduated as an Electrical Engineer.
The lack of spanking and discipline is one of the reasons we have such an entitled (over nothing) couple of generations coming up.

We’re linking IQ and spanking? Naw, there’s no agenda here.

I was a firm believer in using love, logic and reasoning in directing my children’s behavior when they were younger - but first I had to get their attention LOL

I’m against it. It teaches children that their parents are willing to physically hurt them. That’s bad.
To: Arthur McGowan
I see one line statements with weasel phrasing like “the study suggests”.
The smartest people I have known were subject to corporal punishment both at home and in school.
I detect the complete lack of any pretense of balance on the part of the presenter.
I cannot be expected to find such a presentation persuasive the the slightest. It reminds me of the vegan people who pretend that they are concerned about my health.

And in your science courses, they taught you to reach scientific conclusions from ONE example?
And they taught you to judge and reject a book, article, video, or argument WITHOUT reading or viewing it?
You are a perfect example of the irrationality people exhibit when they are afraid to face painful realities.

If that was true, my IQ would be what it is today except there’d be a minus sign in front of it.

The article is pure nonsense.
To: Arthur McGowan
Nonsense.
Careful, measured spanking can be a valuable and harmless disciplinary tool if used sparingly and appropriately: to impress upon a child the danger of a situation; to correct cruelty; against strong defiance.
Discipline must be administered with discipline, never in anger or disproportionately.
All that being said, there is the occasional child for whom spanking is completely ineffective. In those cases spanking would be counterproductive.

It teaches children that their parents are willing to physically hurt them to impress upon them that they should never run out into traffic again.

It was effective for teaching my two year old not to stick things into electrical sockets.

BTW: I had a cousin who was spanked, and he became a drug addict and hanged himself.
This proves that you’re wrong.

There’s tons of dumb people that are successful and tons of smart people that aren’t, IQ is not a good measure of intelligence at all.

Nope, just judging from my experience and the experience of those of my generation and those before my generation. They turned out perfectly well and brought some of the greatest advances in science, healthcare, etc. without being self-absorbed or entitled. Their culture and society were also much more civilized and considerate of each other.
THAT is where my scientific conclusions come from. Those are my facts.
The very premise of the the titles of those youtube videos are false and cannot be proven exactly because we have a vast history that contradicts this nonsense.
But what the hay, what do I know and the millions of americans that lived before the current "knowledge" concerning spanking know???
