Police are investigating a Denver high school's administration after video surfaced of cheerleaders being forced into doing splits, NBC affiliate KUSA reported.
The video shows an incoming freshman at East High School surrounded by teammates and a coach in June during the first week of cheer camp. The girl screams in pain and repeatedly cries "please stop" as the group tries to force her legs into a split. KUSA received seven similar videos.
The school's principal, cheer coach, assistant cheer coach and an assistant principal, as well as Denver Public Schools deputy general counsel, have been placed on leave during the investigation.

As a cheer dad of 2 cheerleaders I concur. The wrath that would come down from me wouldn’t be pretty.
Author obviously has never been to a gymnastics training session. It ain’t pretty.
As a Coloradoan, I’m thinking either East or George Washington high... Sure enough!

I have to disagree on this one.
I see teammates trying to help someone push themselves further than they think they can.
Sometimes that is necessary.
You can hear the voices, reassuring her, ect. This was not done to be mean.
These ‘coaches’ need to be introduced to the business end of a baseball bat........................
Fire the coach and suspend each student involved. Dissolve the cheerleading squad for two years.
Amen bro. And don’t tell me “blacks disproportionately put in prison” because I watch and I read, and most of the pigmentation I see committing the crimes says that is the way it should be.
ANY one forcing a kid to experience pain like this should be charged with assault, I don’t care what shade they are.
I will however denounce the coach (the MAN standing over her) that just THROWS her off to the side!

Denver newschick this morning said she was a gymnast and cheerleader, and nobody made her do that.
